CH-1 What you eat is what you become
I had been coaxing my little tiny roommate Luheki Bose to go out with me for eating some delightful junk. But she being tiny and little had been refusing to go out. Yeah I know this isn’t a reason (giggles) well the real one being that she was bored of eating fast-food.
So after a few minutes she went hopping downstairs into the hostel-mess for evening snacks and came back munching a half-burnt-non-crunchy cold sandwich. Now, Lukehi was our small untidy room’s smallest member with a big brain and bigger heart who would spend hours on internet and books to make her brain bigger.
“ Now, I’m such a wee-little girl you now Tika”, she woud look towards little eleddy(elephant+teddy), Bao, my pet, and sigh sadly,“ But I don’t want to keep my organs inside me to suffer for this. I want them to know that they have the right to be as biggy in life as they want, soar as high as they want. Hearty is already big.”
I nodded.
“I’m encouraging and pushing tummy too to be big like hearty”, true again; in fact once she ate so many mushroom-pasta to get fat quickly that she fell ill for days and had nightmares that mushrooms are opening their own happy colony inside her.
“Then, Brainy is progressing too. Now I only need to worry of Kidney, Lungy, Adam’s Apply…”
“You don’t have one,” I reminded and she was relieved that she had one less organ to worry about though I continued worrying how so many big organs can fit under little Luku-Baby(what we called her).
But she seemed relaxed as she ate her sandwich and asked me in her sweet small voice, “Do you know what this sandwich will become now?”
“Poop,” I chirped from my bed where I was half-sleeping, half-studying, looking at her short stature, happy that I was able to answer intelligent Luku’s strange question. But, she cringed her face at me in her you-are-stupid way and said, “Wrong this sandwich will become me.”
Silence (No crickets chirping too, we don’t have any, too much silence.)
And then I sat up. My roommate was about to become a sandwich??!! No way.
She gave me that look again and said that she won’t be becoming sandwich, but that sandwich would be her, “You become what you eat. My dear Buddhu-Tika,there’s a difference between vegans, non-vegans, eggetarians, dieting people…”
I was confused, “So you mean food defines your personality, so, this sandwich’s traits are going to be your traits too, so in short again, you becoming a sandwich?”
I was amused but Luku seemed irritated.
“No, this sandwich going to be me.”
“But you said food defines you, not you defining food.”
“No, this sandwich going to be Luheki, not the other way round,” she retorted.
“But you said the other-“
And she started chewing noisily so that this was the end of the confusing discussion.
