Today I broke down,
Talking to phantoms.
Cursing the truths I disown,
Of those I can't fathom.
Today I broke down,
The tears welling up.
Morose my only escape,
Memories the only hiccup.
Today I broke down,
Palms unto knees.
Losing in a battle,
My efforts feeble, no one to please.
Today I broke down,
Awash in riptides of sorrow.
I cannot escape the shame,
Unaware of tomorrow.
Today I broke down,
Upon hearing the laughter.
It linked to gashes so deep,
I couldn't get up here after.
Today I broke down,
Transfixed in the void.
Eyes darting away,
The heart benign.
Today I broke down,
Alight with pain.
I was let down,
Coveted by guilt.
Today I broke down,
So long, the wound's numb.
These unheeded wishes,
And those sacred losses,
Still don't burn,
As much as
The thought of you.
