Serendipity

In the evening I was walking at the streets of a town somewhere in Ireland. Damn it was so cold my hands started freezing and my nose already was frozen. At the end of the street I saw a bar. I thanked god for saving me from this merciless winters.

I went inside and asked the bartender to pour the best drink they have, and he served me whiskey.

As I poured down few shots of it down my throat I started to feel warm and my head felt like a feather after a  long hectic day and I really needed it. Book reading sessions always exhausted me.

Lost in my thoughts while gulping down those whiskey shots I had this strange feeling that something is missing, but I just couldn't figure out what.

So after having a lot of whiskey shots I asked the bartender for the bill and he told me that it was on the house. I thought to myself what did I do to deserve so many shots on the house but I didn't bother to ask, I picked up my jacket and as I  was leaving the bar, I heard a very familiar voice singing from behind.

I didn't realise it but as the voice reaches my ears I got goosebumps and I froze facing towards the exit door.

That voice was slowly seeping through my ears to my nervous system and from there commanding my neurons to hit a long lost memory locked behind the door of the room where I kept my painful stories. And as it unlocked that door a face emerged out of it, it was blurry at first but as it came close to me it became clear. I turned around searching for the exact face in that space and time and to my wonder I got the exact match. I saw you, both in my mind and at here,

Standing there on the stage holding the Mic singing my favourite song "Cold mess".

I didn't know what to do, or what to say I was just so shocked to see you there that I couldn't beleive that it was real. While you were singing your eyes met mine and you suddenly stopped and just stood there staring back at me while I stared back at you with watery eyes.

"Is this even real?"

"It's as real as those tears in your eyes."

"Why now and how ?"

"I told you, one day I will settle here in Ireland and open up a bar-restraunt where I would cook delicious cuisines and wait for the day when you will come and taste those while I sing a song for you."

"Oh you surely did.", I said, while the tears couldn't stop but roll down my cheeks and why wouldn't they, I was meeting you, my first love after 15 years.

"Well you are here so why don't you stay while I cook something delicious for you."

And without any second thoughts I said yes.

"Just make sure it's not too spicy this time. I can't handle more tears while it burns my taste buds and ears."

And you just smiled and said, "ofcourse, I can't see tears in your beautiful eyes either."

That was the most beautiful serendipity of my life.

I told the audience sitting in the room for the book reading session of my new book "Serendipity".

After I finished my session and signing the copies for my readers, I went to the bar ordered myself some whiskey shots,

"isn't it too early boss?" The bartender asked.

" whiskey does not see the day or time it is just made for people like us to consume it and enjoy rest of the time, living our day dreams."

"That is what he use to say."

"I am sure he did."

And I just gulp down the shots hearing my favourite song, only this time with someone else singing it on the stage.
