Pain drained my eyes,
Ache ruled my heart;
I'm afraid of being alone,
Even my shadow left
...and gave me up.
I strolled down the river
And looked myself at the water;
I saw a reflection of sadness,
In grief and obvious emptiness
...I knelt.
I cried for a "friend"
To save me from hell;
I mourned and howled
Against the sound of silence!
And then...
A butterfly passed by.
It's the most endearing,
The loveliest of all.
Yes!
With wings so light
As blue as the night.
My eyes moved rhythmically
As it flapped its pretty wings;
Unknowingly, I danced around
And laughed merrily,
Loudly!
I prayed it's not a dream
For I felt such joy in me;
But as I played with the butterfly,
I tripped
...so carelessly.
Leaning down,
My heart turned sour;
Knew that the butterfly stayed no more.
So I got myself up and held my head high;
But tell me! This is not a lie!
Upon me was a sight to behold;
Priceless, gold, treasure- all!
I thought for a second I might die!
Why?
"I saw the sweetest smile of the butterfly."
