"Thats my story maybe...which ended over that coffee"
I looked at him. A silent pause. Like every story out there got frozen. I withdrew my gaze as he looked away. An eerie silence led us to something uncomfortable while I broke the ice finally,
"Coffee?"
"Sure" he smiled a bit.
That day not just little but much of the things changed. I was a wanderer till then when we both sat there sharing our own caffeinated story with each other. However, none scribbled it like I did. No one observed this story which happened sinusoidally with all those other stories.
"Kritika" he paused a moment before I was about to leave. He checked the time, and me his face. Is it time to let him have a hold of himself? Shall I tell him all about the story which hid behind those innumerous folds of memories?
"Yes," I stopped.
"Can we talk for a bit?" he asked.
...............................................................
"She was perfect yet maybe we weren't meant to be together. Or I must say our caffeinated story lacked that spark in it to keep going"
He ended his story which left me surprised. I was pretty much shocked to know that the person who was so happy from outside had such a tragic story with Naina, his ex-wife who walked away after a failed marriage.
"Hm...things happen, Deb, we do not have that power or calibre to stop them," I said staring at the shimmering sky above us as we stood at my terrace. A soft breeze added to the majestic evening.
"Kritika, can I ask you something?" he asked.
I smiled with a nod adjusting those glasses.
"You once told me that you had a story which wasn't something that you can either express or write. Can you tell me what is it about?" he paused.
Suddenly a few stories of past flashed up like lightning on a dark grey sky. I paused as those memories invaded my mind. The time when my heart fell for someone for the first time. The time when I felt the need to listen to that hearts' story for the very first time. But how could I tell him that, that very heart made Naina listen to its beat without looking back at me?
"It's nothing lets go" I smiled turning back to leave when he held me by my arm as my eyes stood over his.
The sky turned grey as little droplets of rain fell over us, drenching in that rain he pulled me closer while his lips moved and he spoke up,
"I know that story was me from the very first"
I was baffled. I didn't feel my beats or my breaths. He stood in front of me as he repeated that story from his point of view this time.
To be continued...
