As I sat writing these lines
I saw
Some apparitions passing by
Lit in bright whites
Across alluring dark, thirsty canvases
The moon was shining bright
Its brightness o'erflowing into an endless sky
My mind as haywire as that unkempt hair
Of a Gypsy girl I had met sometimes
My thoughts as wayward as those endless berms
She covered on foot...and my bundle as heavy and at once light
Her song filling my wandering mind
The moon is full today, still shining bright
I plead with it to dim its grandeur
I sight those faceless, nameless forms again
Some visitations from across lazy time
Wake from their graves by this midnight hour
My full moon guiding their fleeting paths
I see them break open those great old lead coffins
I set them free of those marble tombs
I watch them run across random paths
And near me with their arms stretched out
To strangle, take me in their lot...
But unfortunate light plays exorcist again
And I remain where I was
Erebus's company lost
And Achyls refusing me its wonderful plight
But I sure will attempt tonight again
Till it consents to let me stay.
