South Beach Diet: Food to Eat

This diet has two main goals. Promotes weight loss by replacing bad carbs and bad fats with good carbs and good fats. Bad carbs are a source of carbohydrates that are already refined or processed. Examples source of this are white bread, pasta, rice, and others. Good carbs, in a simplified world, are whole carbs. It is complex and unprocessed. Bad fats are fats that we can obtain from eating processed food, including the ones that we bought from fast foods. Good fats can be obtained from vegetables, nuts, seeds, and fish or the so-called omega-3 fatty acids.

Starting any diet program is never easy. You need to consider a lot of things and you need your mind in control. Sometimes we listen to our heads, without minding what our bodies want. We don’t just eat because we are bored, we eat because we need to.

Here are some examples of foods to avoid during this diet:

During this diet, fatty foods, and those containing high carbohydrates foods are strictly banned from eating, especially in phase 1 and phase 2. Those foods are:

• Beef (brisket, rib, and other fatty parts)

• Chicken, especially the wings and the leg part.

• Pork

• Starchy vegetables such as carrots, potatoes, green peas, corn, beets, yam, and many more.

• Fruits, almost all fruits and fruit juices need to be avoided during this diet. Examples are an apple, apricot, berries, grapefruit, peaches, pears, and many more.

• Carbs, including all types of bread, pasta, cereals, oatmeal, rice, and many to mention.

• All kinds of alcoholic beverages, including beer and wine.

• Sodas, milk, fruit juices, and cocktails.

You have to avoid all of the temptations for you to perform the South Beach Diet and have good and fast results.

Here are some examples of food to eat during this diet:

Just because you are not allowed to eat certain foods, doesn’t mean you are not allowed to eat foods that you want. The only thing is you will eat it in a nutritious and healthy way. This includes lean meats, healthy fats, and vegetables. Those foods are:

• Beef (sirloin, T-bone, and any lean meat)

• Chicken, but only the skinless breast part.

• All types of fish.

• Pork, tenderloin, and loin parts. In terms of cooking, it should be boiled or roast.

• Cheese, such as cheddar, parmesan, mozzarella, blue cheese, and many more.

• Nuts and seeds such as almond, cashew, chia, pecans, pistachios, etc.

• Yogurt, Buttermilk, Whole Milk or Soy Milk

• Nut butter such as almond butter, cashew butter, and peanut butter.

• Good Fats: Avocado, Canola, extra virgin coconut, extra virgin olive oil,

• Non-starchy Vegetables such as cauliflower, broccoli, asparagus, eggplant, artichoke, Brussels sprout, cabbage, celery, chayote, cucumber, and many more to mention.
