Info

Bullying is an act in which a person (The Bully) forces, threats, abuses or intimidates other people (The Victim) to achieve dominance among a certain group. It can happen anywhere and it is often a behavior that is repeated, meaning, it

Cannot just happen in one day, but it can continue to occur within years. Mostly, people who are engaged in bullying are often found inside schools, and the victims are often youths in any age, size or gender. In other words, bullying can happen to anyone, anywhere at any time of the day, without giving any acceptable reason to the victims of such acts. In this world nowadays, the problems of bullying faced by our youths is one of the social issues present in our modern society. The Incidents of bullying is increasing with the help of modern contemporary technology and it is, without a doubt, very alarming. What are more alarming are the effects of bullying to these young people. That’s why we should stop and prevent bullying from happening to anyone for it gives psychological, physical, mental, emotional and financial trauma and distress to today’s youth, whether if they’re the bullies or the ones who are bullied. Moreover, it can also greatly affect their growth and development in the future and can hinder possible opportunities and success.

Bullying causes major psychological, mental and emotional distress and trauma to people that had experienced this kind of behavior. Kids who are bullied often suffer worse long-term mental health outcomes; they have a tendency to become emotionally withdrawn. If they are already quiet, shy and self-contained, they may become even more so, to the point where they have trouble interacting with their peers. They can experience anxiety, depression, sadness and loneliness and it can also lead to anger and rage as a possible emotional response to bullying. These psychological effects can also lead to suicidal thoughts that can affect their everyday living. Their academic performance might also get affected and they may even skip classes or drop out of school. The victims might not participate in class and because of their low self-esteem, they could develop a certain fear in performing in class. As for the bullies, they often have long-lasting emotional problems. They might have trouble relating to their peers because of their violent, cruel and manipulative behavior. They can also have suicidal thoughts and can have difficulty in having a job, maintaining friendships, and romantic, or even family relationships.

Bullying also causes physical trauma to the bullies and the victims. The victims can cut themselves as a result of the suicidal thoughts resulting to scars and wounds in their bodies. Bullying can cause physical stress to them, making it harder for them to eat or digest food. They can have altered bowel habits and changes in their weight. The victims may also experience headaches because of stress: the more they experience the bullying, the worse their pain gets. They can also experience muscle pain in the head and throughout their body. The victims can also acquire heart diseases in the long-term because of stress that can affect the health of their hearts.

People who are engaged in bullying can also suffer from financial problems. Bullies and their victims can get addicted to alcohol and drugs. They find refuge in addictive substances and if not treated immediately, it can cause long term diseases and self-destruct. They can have problems with money and medication, which makes it difficult for them to heal.

So, as a result, the ones who are engaged in bullying, whether if they’re victims or bullies, can have negative effects in the lives of these people. It can cause huge changes in their behavior and can alter their minds. They can have problems with their mental and physical health and can even affect them financially in the form of alcohol or drug abuse. That’s why it is relevant in our world today to stop bullying and start to develop a sense of empathy towards people. If we continue to watch these kids bully others and not do anything, what would become of this world? It’s time to decide and act, before it’s too late.
