A 20-year-old college student is sitting on a porch looking confused. There are many things playing on his mind..
The countdown. 5...4...3...2...1,
A girl playing, and A song...
"Why is this song playing in my mind? Where am I? What am I supposed to do here?" He thought to himself. This is not new to him. He zones out a lot and when he decides to come back to this world and he ends up lost. So, as time passed by he taught himself how to get out of these situations. He has developed a systematic approach to solve them
#Collect all the data available:
He looked around hoping to find some clues, it's a busy place for an apartment basement. There Are Kids playing, housewives busy in their discussions about other housewives, a couple of couples here and there, an old man who seemed to search for something...
Wait a minute!! What was that?
Some memory came to his mind for a second and bam!! It was lost...
Damn my faulty wiring!!
#Connect the dots:
Now with enough data, next step is to identify those details which seem familiar or seem to strike some memory such as this old man who seem to be in a worry and he clearly was searching for something or for someone and that's not it. Of all the dogs assembled there, this particular white labrador dog with black stripes looked familiar, but then he decided not to think about the dog a lot.
DOGS SCARE HIM TO HELL
15,,14,,13,,12,, The countdown kept playing in his mind and this worried him a lot.
"Countdowns are followed by something bad in almost every movie", he thought to himself.
"Can you please help me with finding this place?" requested a stranger. This startled him and he sprang from his seat. "Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you", apologized the stranger. "It's OK.vI was just thinking about something." He looked at the address and gave directions to the stranger. "How I can remember all these details and still manage to forgot what I have been doing all the time? God!! there's something seriously wrong with my wiring."
He realized that the time has come for him to consult an expert and get this taken care of.
Something about the stranger felt familiar to him, not his face, not his voice, not even the address. He whirled the cogs of his brain and he realized that the more he thought of the stranger the more it felt like a dèja vu. Dèja vu!! Yeah!! He looked at the stranger and that old man who was still busy searching for something. BOOM!!. He got the missing link.
ONE DOWN AND GOD KNOWS HOW MANY MORE TO GO.
The way he figured out why the stranger asking for directions looked familiar gave him confidence to solve this situation.
A few minutes ago, the old man approached him just like the stranger did, but the big question is WHY. Why did the old man come to him? and there is only one way to find out. He moved cautiously towards the old man making sure that the dogs won't spot him. FLASH!!. "What the hell was that?" He thought to himself trying to understand that memory spark he just experienced, and as usual it didn't yield. "Let's just drop it. I am pretty sure that this old man can help us". He kept walking towards the old man hoping for answers, without any slightest clue that he was being stealthily observed by a guy dressed in black.
The man in black signaled to this other guy who was also hiding cautiously and moved to the pre-decided hiding spot which was far nearer to the subject.
The subject, who is now filled with hope, approached the old man.The old man instantly recognized him and said, "Son! Did you find my grand daughter? God dank it why won't that stupid dog stop barking?"
He almost shouted with joy as everything started coming to his mind now. "Oh!! That's why the dog looked familiar", he thought. He might be walking or probably jogging as he was in his track and shoes. The old man must have come to him and requested to help him find his granddaughter. He must be searching for the girl when the dog must have started barking and he must have run hard, real hard pushing everything else away from his mind and finally settled on the porch with only 'THANK GOD I ESCAPED FROM THE DOG' feeling in his mind. Now that he remembered what he was supposed to do, he assured the old man that he will find his granddaughter and began searching. Behind a pillar, couple feet away from him, the man in black track pants decided to lunge on the subject but he was warned by his partner. " We waited a long time for this. It must be perfect".
"But when's that?".
"Patience"
PATIENCE IS THE KEY
As he passed through the matrix of pillars, cars, and people, he felt that there is something wrong, something missing in the puzzle. There were many things which still bothered him, mainly the dog. " Only if I knew the dog language", he wished. A sweet sound of a smile which seemed that of a girl reminded him of his mission and he began running to where the sound came from.
PATIENCE ALWAYS PAYS
It so happened that the way he was going passes through the watch posts, cautiously selected by the stalkers. This is the moment these guys are waiting for, a perfect time to lunge upon him like a hungry lion does on it's prey.
ONE PERFECT JUMP, NOTHING MORE, NOTHING LESS
The subject's heart skipped a beat. His adrenaline pumped so hard that everything seemed to run at half speed. He could see the stranger's hand advancing towards him. His survival reflexes acted and he lifted his hand defending his face but the strangers hand....
Wait a minute, he is not a stranger. I know this guy. He is, or at least was a friend of mine.
Something sparked up in his mind and the count down came to his mind once again.
19..18..17..16
Oh my God!! I know that countdown.
And the stranger/friend 's hand reached the subject, surprisingly the worried look on his face disappeared and was replaced by a smile.
'I AM SUCH A FOOL'.
The friends hand landed on his shoulder and he shouted...
DEAF.. DEAF... DEAF...
"We should play Hide and Seek more often. This is fun", said his friend.
'YEAH! IT WAS A LOT OF FUN!', he said as sarcastically as it was possible for him.
"OK! Now, who will start the countdown", enquired one of his friends.
