You’ll know it, when it’s late.
It sneaks like a burglar in the night.
It’s when the only heart you owned,
Is already lost in sight.
To others, it seems pleasant,
But stealing is still a crime.
Just as theives break the rules,
He’ll break your heart in time.
I don’t want it to happen again,
–all the pain I felt before.
So wrapped my heart with coldness,
While bitterness guards my door.
And those who dare to knock
Will quickly run away.
But when you said Hello,
I never knew what to say…
In that moment I was stunned.
It’s obvious to those who saw.
It seems like everything you do,
Makes me stand in awe.
But when you utter words to me,
There’s no story that can define,
How butterflies turn to dragons,
Inside this stomach of mine.
And with every blink –a thousand words,
Your eyes can truly speak.
With our unexpected glances,
Every story is unique.
I would swiftly back away,
When you step closer when we meet.
Your warmth defeats my coldness,
So I surrender in retreat.
Your smile is your weapon,
It can melt the strongest of steel.
And a heart as cold as mine
Knows this feeling is unreal.
But your simple acts of kindness,
And the little things you do.
Made me think, that this “feeling”,
Is real and is true.
I’m in love with you, Jake.
Every day, you make me fall.
You made my bitterness disappear,
And my coldness break its wall.
You coloured back my life,
Your warmth lit up everything.
And for the first time in forever,
I’m alive without just surviving.
We were both in love…
But not with each other.
It was I with him,
And him with her.
So I watched myself crash,
Since you won’t ever catch me.
This despair was a dark abyss,
And nothingness is what I see.
But you taught me to love, Jake;
That in sparks there’ll be light.
So, I learned to love myself
And everything glowed bright.
This abyss taught me to look
at a perspective that is brighter.
Finally, after a long time,
I saw things clearer.
I know you don’t feel the same.
But you freed me from my own chains,
You wiped out all my burdens,
And all my permanent stains.
You played an important role,
In my life and my story,
You let my heart live again,
Despite the pain and agony.
Thank you for teaching me to love again
Thank you for ending with a new start.
At least someone has thawed,
My once bitter, frozen heart.
