CBD, or cannabidiol is one of the main active compounds found in cannabis along with THC. But unlike the latter, CBD is a non-intoxicating compound that does not cause the “high”, but instead delivers a wide range of health benefits regardless of how you take it.
And while there are dozens of benefits to it, CBD is particularly good for people who’re dealing with issues such as anxiety, stress, or sleeplessness. That’s because CBD promotes relaxation and calmness by interacting with receptors such as serotonin that are responsible for controlling your fear, anxiety, and worries. And this is why CBD is not just an effective sleep inducer but also an effective stress and anxiety burster. This is why so many people take CBD oil for anxiety!
What is the best way to take CBD?
Also referred to as medicinal cannabis, CBD can be consumed in a number of ways i.e. eating, drinking, smoking, and vaping. Edibles being the safest as they do not pose any risks to health as is the case with smoking.
But like anything we eat and drink, most CBD edibles also take a longer time to be absorbed and react in our bodies. That’s because CBD edibles, such as CBD chocolate, gummies, or any edible for that matter have to go through the digestive tract which takes about an hour or more for complete digestion.
Except for CBD edible oils, such as CBD tinctures!
What are CBD edible oils?
CBD edible oil is a form of cannabis oil drops that you can pour under your tongue for immediate sublingual absorption. Available in easy droppers and sprays formats, these tinctures are strictly made for oral consumption and cannot be used for other purposes such as vaping (for vaping there are different oils- CBD oils and e-liquids).
The reason why so many people use CBD oil for anxiety, is that as we’ve said it is one of the healthiest formats, works faster than edibles and you can get solutions that are a lot more concentrated with up to 10% of CBD content making them stronger and more effective.
That’s why it’s recommended to dropper or spray only once or twice before adjusting as then you can assess its effectiveness. Moreover, natural flavoured CBD oil can be quite bitter so be sure to opt for a flavoured version if you do not like the earthy taste of hemp!
What is the right CBD dosage for anxiety and sleep?
There’s no standardised CBD dosage for anxiety, or a specific CBD oil dosage for sleep or any other issue that you’re trying to manage. Cannabis is a herbal remedy that works differently for everyone. The ideal dose of CBD oil for anxiety for one person may not be the same for another.
The trick is to start low and slow, and observe its effects. If it works, fine, if it does not, try increasing the dose and see the difference.
That’s what I did when I first bought a CBD tincture from a well-established CBD brand here in the UK, known as Paso! They sell high-quality CBD oils in both dropper and spray formats making it easy to control the intake. They also offer flavours such as mint which is even better if you do not fancy that underlying hemp taste.
