The Little Picture

It's the little things in life that make it perfect. Most of us don't lead exciting lives with romance and adventures and swooning damsels in distress. But it's the small picture,you know,that often makes it worthwhile. That feeling of the air when you wake up in the morning,drifting between consciousness and sleep,the new day rife with possibilities,the mouth-watering smell of a newly brewed,piping hot cup of coffee, that first swallow of chilled water you take after you wake up,feeling the path it takes down your throat cooling and refreshing your entire body, the good clean smell of yourself after you've bathed,the comforting,soothing feel of sliding into clean sheets,walking in the rain,feeling as if each drop was a benediction from the clouds,hugging your mom and feeling that unmatched sensation of utter and selfless love and acceptance emanating from within the circle of her arms,the bittersweet,magical taste of dark chocolate,the thrill of anticipation when you find a book worth reading that is going to change you in some fundamental way after you're done, the scent of old,musty books with memories pressed between their pages,the silent strength of the trees,and the playful,chirping birds,the love of a dog as it greets you when you return home,spending a day out with your best friends,the feeling of a cheeseburst pizza exploding in your mouth,the intimate feel of the world when night falls and the world is half hidden in shadows and mystery,the longing you feel when you look at the moon,lovely beyond words despite her many scars and the cold cold stars that take your breath away with their beauty,the way you feel when you pen down your thoughts on paper and watch your feelings take tangible form and the feeling of slipping into bed when you're exhausted and laying your weary head on a soft pillow......life has many shades and so does happiness. We don't need large,extravagant things to keep us happy,after all it's the little picture and reading between the lines that are capable of bringing us the most joy,if only we try to appreciate them.
