The Main Aim of Education for students?

What is the main purpose of education? Ultimately, the main purpose of education is to enable people to live their lives to the fullest. This includes confidence in themselves and their choices, confidence in their abilities to make valuable contributions to society, and knowledge of their rights and duties as citizens. Education is necessary for the well-being of a person, and it requires guidance from knowledgeable individuals, primarily parents and teachers. Regardless of the reason, education requires discipline and perseverance.

Forming children into human persons:

The main purpose of education is to form children into human beings who can contribute to society in some positive way. Its goal is to nurture the mind and develop the individual's full potential. Education should also develop the individual's ability to make the best use of his or her circumstances and surroundings. It is essential that education should help children develop self-discipline and social responsibility.

Constitutional commitments:

The aims of education are linked to constitutional commitments. As citizens of a republic, we are committed to social justice, equal opportunity, secularism, and the welfare state. Therefore, our educational program and policy should reflect these ideals. As humans, we experience reality within the framework of our current cultural worldview. This framework is called a paradigm. The assumptions, values, and techniques of the paradigm are correlated to our current situation and the aims of education.

Enabling them to make a good living in the future:

The OECD has selected 21 competencies as the main objectives of education. These competencies are not bound to moral values, but rather reproduce the idea of a deterministic future. It should be noted that such competencies are based on a limited set of moral values, and they are not the only aims of education. A good education aims to provide students with all the information necessary to become good decision-makers and citizens of the world.

Concept of sustainable development:

Education is closely linked with the concept of sustainable development. The dominant paradigm of sustainable development assumes that education will help create a better world by improving technical innovation, increasing efficiency, and changing consumer habits. This concept helps define what knowledge and skills learners need to create a sustainable future. With knowledge and skills, the future is better understood and envisioned, and participation and decision-making become key goals of education.

After the Enlightenment, humanism became the dominant perspective. The idea of a better society was seen as the main ideal of education, and education should aim to make this ideal a reality. The goal of education, therefore, should be to promote active engagement with the environment. The notion of the future in education is usually conceived as something that has to be done by humans and is not radically open and shapeable. However, it should promote democratic values and foster self-determination.
