The Mirror

Sometimes I feel like I am not myself.

Like when I look in the mirror, and I see my reflection.

But, as I keep on looking into it, deep into the eyes of that image in the mirror, my brain gets confused and I think, who is this random girl that I see in this mirror?

Then I feel something.

I feel a mixture of emotions.

Emotions of excitement, emotions of mystery, emotions of horror.

I feel the familiar stare I have been getting for the past years of my life.

I look deep into her eyes, and she does the same.

Only to find that her gaze is stronger than mine.

Her gaze has a mysterious look.

Her eyes are filled with secrets.

Her mind is trying to tell me something, but I can't understand.

I can't understand her look.

I can't decipher that secret yet special code.

I believe it is beyond my capability.

No, it is beyond anyone's capability.

This whole mind conversation between me and this girl staring back at me in the mirror lasts only for a moment, merely five seconds or less, maybe even a fraction of one.

But for me, it feels like infinity.

It feels as if time is standing still.

It feels as if this whole world just stopped working.

Everything is still.

Just for her to see me unlock that hidden meaning.

But no,

I can't.

Just when I start to understand her,

Just when I decipher that first letter,

Just when I see that image taking a life of its own,

Everything stops.

Everything returns back to normal.

The earth starts to rotate again.

Time resumes its journey.

And then, as if nothing had happened, I start to regain my consciousness,

And runs that entire scenario in my mind once again,

Only to think,

"Nah, just forget it."

And I will never understand that code,

Never.

And that girl still stands there, with the hope that she will accomplish her task one day.

She waits for me in the mirror,

Still there, even if I'm not.
