"The Wretched Being"

"Let me breathe", i said,
As i was pushed down the lane,
For every word i swallowed back in,
I felt like i was turning insane.

"Let me breathe", i said,
As i was chained like an animal,
Though my master didn't feel awkward,
Because for him it was all so casual.

"Let me breathe!", i said,
When i found my happiness obscured,
By luring me of good wages,
He thought i was reassured.

"Let me breathe!", i said,
When sweat started to shut down my eyes,
But a whip across my back inferred,
I was being despised.

"Let me breathe?", i said,
As my colour meant i was a chattel property,
All my birth-rights were being subdued,
Thus i faced nothing but atrocity.

"Let me breathe?", i said,
As i looked down on my blood dried feet,
No sooner did i fall down on the ground
Than i achingly realized that that was all i could breathe..
