This Love is Unrequited

We were sitting on the bench near the coast before sunrise, above us are the overhanging clouds that absorbs all heaviness from the atmosphere. There we inhaled the morning draught of the fresh invigorating air. The sunbeams, those blessing-bringing daughters of the sun, kissed the both of us as if they wished to thaw, and melt, and obliterate the coldness within our souls.

Both of us enjoyed this breathtaking  scene of nature; the way how the sun took away the moon's throne. None of us uttered a single word, but there's a strong connection between our silence - the kind of conversation only the two of us can decipher.

"I'm scared," I said, and the atmosphere seemed twice as high and blue, while the woods shone with crimson, green, and gold.

"of what?" you replied, with a vacant expression drawn on your face.

I took a deep breath and sigh as I spilled out the words I've always wanted you to hear,

"I'm scared of falling for the kind of love that takes a lifetime to get over with,

of not being able to put myself back together if ever I end up to be the only one falling;

Most of all, I'm scared because I might not be able to continue breathing to life with happiness without you."

I've never heard of your reply after that. But your silence spoke of words that are just enough to shred my heart to pieces.
