Times that were..

A little girl would pluck leaves of edible plants and offer them to the cows, take the calfs out for afternoon walks, thinking that they have become bored being pegged for so long at one place..she would silently slip out of the house to the mango orchard and sit on a Bullock cart for hours watching the ducks and kingfishers, buffaloes and monkeys, all going about their daily business...she would run into the golden yellow mustard fields, tip toe on the muddy slippery alleys..dance gleefully in the thundering spouts of water at the fields, jump in fear at the croaking toads, run after bushy tailed squirrels and kiss a mongoose or gawk at a pet monkey...she would gape at the vegetable sellers and fishermen through the ornate grills, join young girls for morning ablutions near the river...she would imitate the buzzing bees and cheer along the river dolphins..she was nature's own child... unalloyed, simple and alluring..till the day she remains the same..it's just the world around her is a maze now...where simplicity is often bundled up as naivety, measured existence longs for unbridled moments..that was LIFE!!
