It's hard to stay motivated by these somewhat strange times, but we're in the same boat! Adjusting to the new “normal” is a real challenge for all of us. Getting used to spending all your time at home and having the motivation to clean messy house while taking care of yourself can often be a bit “too much”. It has never been more important to plan your week and keep a good structure of life but let's be honest… motivation takes a big hit. We understand! Currently, at Vision Direct, our teams work from home, so we've decided to give you our favorite tips to stay motivated anyway.
Keep in touch with the outside world
Stay connected with your loved ones throughout this time. Even if it's impossible to take advantage of the terraces to remake the world with your friends right now, you can still have a drink on Facetime, Skype.
Seeing your loved ones live can not only lift your heart but also remind you that you are not alone in this mess, that your doubts and anxieties are shared. And if you just want to forget about the virus for a moment, there are plenty of online board games or karaoke games that can work wonders and take your mind off your feet.
Stay active
Maintaining regular physical activity is a big challenge when you're stuck at home, but nothing is impossible with a little creativity! There are plenty of tutorials online to work out at home and clear your mind. You will find everything: cardio, yoga, or even Zumba… there is something for everyone. Try to get some fresh air each day by walking for a few minutes, if only to go around the pie. We recommend wearing daily lenses when you exercise, it is an ultra-hygienic option that also gives you real freedom of movement.
Set goals for yourself!
Remember the list of things you promised yourself to do before lockdown knowing you weren't going to do it? question yourself again about what are the goals of life? Now or never is the time to indulge yourself, whether you want to scrapbook your vacation photos, finish a 1200 piece jigsaw puzzle or resume your Italian basics. It's a good way to set a realistic goal that motivates without aiming for the moon either, at your pace and however you want.
Priority to your mental health
In the midst of a global crisis as strong as what we are experiencing now, your mental health should be the priority. This is what allows you to take a step back from everyday life and maintain a routine while adapting to this newly imposed standard. Make sure you set a clear line between your private and professional life, for example. Set well-defined schedules and regular breaks throughout the day. Make a list of everything that makes you happy, and try to do at least one of those things a day. Also try to limit as much as possible reading the latest news about the new virus if you are worried, instead read famous quotes about life to inspire you before sleeping for example.
Stick to your routine
Get up at the same time every morning and try to create a routine that is unique to you. Easier said than done depending on each person's job, so be sure to stay realistic to go the distance (and travel the path). Include household chores but also time just for yourself, even if it's only 10 minutes (especially if you have children ...). Relaxing after a long day by launching Friends on Netflix or facilitating your loved ones is part of the new “normal”! So no complexes.
