7 Tips‌ ‌to‌ ‌Find‌ ‌Love‌ ‌on‌ ‌Vacation‌ ‌

Studies have shown that those in long-lasting romantic relationships are happier, healthier and tend to live longer than single adults. When you’re on the hunt for love, it’s likely you’re looking for it just about anywhere you could find it. If you feel as though you have exhausted the current prospects of the dating pool in your own hometown, you may want to try a search in a new destination. Read on for tips on how to find love while you’re on vacation.

1. Put Yourself Out There

If you’re truly serious about finding someone to love while you travel, you shouldn’t wait for them to come to you. The moment you set off on your road trip or Eastern Caribbean cruise, adopt a mindset of relative vulnerability.

Strike up a conversation with as many people as you can, and try to steer the conversation into more personal spaces so you can see if there is a spark between the two of you.

2. Download an App

A large number of dating apps function with a GPS feature that places you in the dating pool of wherever you may be. If you already have a few dating apps downloaded to your phone, all you’ll likely need to do is boot them up and start swiping. If not, make a profile and adjust your settings so you can see the singles that align best with what you’re looking for. Make it known in your profile that you’re from out of town so locals know what to expect should you schedule a date.

3. Try a Meet Up

One of the biggest hurdles of dating is finding someone with shared interests, which can make online dating feel very much like an uphill battle much of the time. To narrow down your search, look online ahead of time for local events to find fellow singles that are also interested in the things you enjoy doing, such as running, reading, climbing, brewery tours, art strolls or walking tours. That way, you’re more likely to strike up a conversation with someone with whom you already have something in common.

4. Join a Group Activity

If you’ve traveled with a group, are staying at a hostel or resort or your vacation is part of a larger tour or cruise, be sure to sign up for any group activities that could introduce you to like-minded singles. This also gives you a topic of conversation to open with, as you can start to bond over your mutual thoughts about the scenery, historical sites or even your opinion on the tour guide.

5. Try a Singles-Only Trip

Plenty of people want to look for love while they’re on vacation, which is why dozens of companies regularly host singles-only getaways to help to facilitate a little matchmaking. There are a variety of vacation options for various walks of life, budgets and interests. Plus, because everyone there will also be single, it will be a lot easier to gauge whether someone is interested in you or whether a conversation is worth pursuing further.

6. Get Their Info

You’ve been hitting it off with someone you find attractive, so be sure to get their information so you can keep the conversation going when it’s time to head home. Grab their phone number, social media information, business card or any other relevant contact info. If you still have several days left on your trip, you can shoot them a text or a DM to ask them to grab drinks, head for a walk or be your plus-one at a local gallery.

7. Keep an Open Mind

Dating isn’t easy, regardless of where you try to meet your match. While you travel, keep yourself open to any and all possibilities. Try to overcome any fears of rejection or talking to new people. You never know when a conversation, even something seemingly insignificant, could pay off in a very real way for you.
