The Beetle was first sold in 1938, during World War II. Although the Beetle sold for a very long time, not stopping production until 2018, it hasn't outsold its front engine, the Golf.

The fifth best-selling car in the world will surprise you - the VAZ-2101 Zhiguli, a small sedan made by The Russian manufacturer AvtoVaz and better known by the name Lada.But most people still haven't heard much about it.
The Zhiguli is basically a vigorously re-built Fiat 124 that was custom-made explicitly for the Soviet Union and the Eastern Bloc. It was later sent out as the Lada 2101 in business markets that the Fiat 124 was not sold in.
You may well consider the Zhiguli to be the most successful selling car on this list. Of course, of the 45 million sales volume of Corolla, Zhiguli only sold 16 million, but considering the sales history of Corolla is very long, the sales time of Zhiguli is very short.
