"Do we have a story?"
"We don't until the next page starts"
The character in the ongoing book started to have a conversation with each other. With a new scene and a twist, they were trying to adjust to the surrounding. The moment they get closer and are ripped away from each other made them envy the writer this time. They were envious of how someone was having the sole power to decide their next move. They wondered if that was possible in their case as well, but alas! they know well that they were someone created by the author. They didn't have a significant existence apart from being in that book.
"I feel trapped in this labyrinth that she created for me" the female protagonist whispered as the next page was created where he was the first thing on that.
"Even me, I don't understand why do I need to fight with each enemy that comes on my way" he sighed
"Maybe that's the reason you are the lead" she smiled
They watched the series of events making them apart. In this short span of time, where they met in the first twenty pages, they were aware of how they can't handle themselves. They could just observe what was fed to them.
"Do you think our story will have a happy ending?" he asked her often
"It depends on how she see us. It all depends on that pen" she said
"Maybe in the end, we depart, will we be able to forget each other?" he asked
"Maybe we will end up being nothing at the end of this page"
The end was closer. They could feel it well. They saw themselves fighting all odds, crying, smiling and at the end being with each other. Their happy end was already decided but with the last twist that they were mere illusions who didn't know what fate they had.
It was only when the first reader went through the book and at the last page, he closed it once he felt he was done.
"So that's how we end?" she said with a hint of sadness in her voice
"But we did mark an impression on his head, he might be thinking all about the story he just read"
She smiled knowing that was their end game. The way they leave a real impression on whoever reads them. That's how they have, a happy end..
