''What are most romantic words you have heard?''
The teacher asked unexpectedly,
During the class, in front of many students-
His bold interrogation broke the pin drop silence,
The pitter-patter of heartbeats; in the swift air could be heard
The serious business of the unemployed ones-
Turned into a flowery joke.
I don't want to hear a single ''I love you''
Bring out some sophistication within you,
The teacher said with a glare.
The drumming increased, raised many brows
No one knew the answer-
The teacher wanted refined literature;
And they failed to utter the words boiling inside.
Many hearts had loved-
Many nights had passed sleeplessly;
Only few had lived the young dream-
Only few were loved back.
A girl gathered some courage and answered
In a shaking voice,''Will you be mine?''
The teacher shouted,'' We Are Made For Each Other''
And a bottle half-filled dropped on the floor.
Who knows how many hearts broke that day
How much blood was spilled.
