Victoria Beckham

Info

Victoria Beckham is a world-renowned singer, fashion designer and fashionista. Born on the 17th April 1974 in Essex, England, she rose to fame in the 1990s whilst in the infamous girl group the ‘Spice Girls’. She has since become internationally recognised as a key figure in the high-end fashion industry. Her self-titled fashion line was launched in 2008 and more recently, she has launched her own makeup line too.

Spice Girls

The Spice Girls were founded in 1994 and in 1996 they released their debut single, ‘Wannabe’. Other group members included Melanie Chisholm, Geri Halliwell, Melanie Brown and Emma Bunton. Over the years, they produced numerous hit songs. After the release of their third and final album ‘Forever’ in January 2000, the group decided to part ways indefinitely.

Roots in Fashion

One month after the release of ‘Forever’, Victoria made her debut as a catwalk model at London Fashion Week. She was then made the ambassador of designer label Dolce and Gabbana. In 2004, she released her own line with Rock and Republic - an American jean brand - titled ‘VB Rocks’. Rock and Republic has since gone defunct in 2010. A few years later in April 2008, she made her first appearance in British Vogue. These roots in fashion eventually propelled her as a well known name in the fashion industry, both in London and New York.

Fashion Line

The same year as her Vogue appearance, she launched her own fashion line ‘Victoria Beckham’. Shortly after, it was awarded designer label of 2011 in the British Fashion awards and saw sold out seats at New York fashion week. This only saw her success in the fashion industry rise. People were not just buying her clothes because they were designed by Beckham, but because of the style and quality.

Victoria Beckham’s label is notable for its sophisticated yet minimalist designs which are suitable for a range of different lifestyles. These designs are cited to be a mixture between Beckham’s own style and the needs of modern women all over the world. After initially focusing on dresses, it ventured into other spheres of fashion including handbags and perfume.

The label has offices in New York and London, which also houses its flagship store in Mayfair whilst another is located in Hong Kong. Alongside their own stores, Victoria Beckham products are also carried in over 450 stores across 50 countries.

Keeping with the times, Victoria Beckham has recently announced that her garments and accessories would steer clear of fur and animal skins. This allowed her items to be cruelty free, which is an animal rights movement rejecting any products that involve or harm animals.

More Recent Ventures

2017 saw a new venture for Victoria Beckham in American supermarket chain Target. She released size inclusive designs for women at an affordable price. Later, a children’s line was also introduced by Beckham.

One year later in 2018, Beckham collaborated with sports brand Reebok seeing her launch her own line with them. Similar to her own clothing line’s style, these products are also seen as minimalist yet practical.

In September 2019, Beckham launched her own beauty brand titled ‘Victoria Beckham Beauty’. This was developed in co-creation with Beckham’s business partner Sarah Creal. The beauty brand was launched at London Fashion Week 2019 and was received with glowing reviews. Its central idea is to not just make people look their best but to also feel their best. As a result, the brand has a crossover into the wellness sector.

The community of individuals purchasing the items can look forward to high quality products with an essence of wellness supporting their everyday mood and positivity. Remaining in line with current matters, the packaging of Victoria Beckham Beauty products are completely sustainable. They are produced from 100% post-consumer waste alongside shipping materials also being completely recyclable or biodegradable. Its main launch products were eye products, especially eyeshadow. A few months after its launch, it then introduced a line of lip products.

Victoria Beckham is now continuing to find success with her clothing line. This summer, a Summer 2022 lookbook has already been created and can be viewed on the website. The clothes are monochromatic, carrying black, brown and white colours.
