Vitamins - How Spirulina Can Improve Your Health and Well-Being

Spirulina contains natural protein, 3-4 times as much as in fish or beef. This means that spirulina is very helpful to vegetarians concerned about whether their dietary or philosophical choices mean that they are not getting enough protein in their diet.

Spirulina has more beta-carotene than carrots and so is useful as an anti-oxidant. Anti-oxidants consume free-radicals and are said by some researchers to combat the effects of aging. Spirulina also contains more iron than spinach, and is nature's richest source of vitamin B12.

Spirulina has more chlorophyll than barley or wheatgrass, and has more Vitamin E than wheatgerm.

mens and young adults Spirulina contains many other minerals essential for good health and vitality, including potassium, selenium, calcium and zinc.

Scientific studies have shown spirulina to be helpful in cases of heart disease, stroke and age-related loss of function including memory. It has been found to help with hay-fever and other allergies. It is literally a super-food, super-vitamin and super-mineral source.

Siprulina is sold in health-food shops and can be ordered from suppliers online. I simply purchase mine from my local supermarket, and take the recommended dosage each day. I also take a product containing spirulina in combination with barley greens. Some say spirulina has a "grassy" taste, however, I find that if I take spirulina in fruit juice this is not a problem.
