According to Indonesian culture, the best way to eat nasi padang is by putting away all the cutleries and digging them with your clean hands.

Ayam Taliwang:

It is a chicken dish that originated from the western Nusa Tenggara. In this food, the chicken needs to be roasted with several seasonings such as dried chilies, shallots, garlic, tomatoes, galangal, fried shrimp paste, brown sugar, and salt. Ayam taliwang is usually served with an extra sambal sauce, roasted rice, stir-fried kale, and fresh vegetables to garnish.

Karedok:

Karedok is one of the popular Indonesian cuisine, which is fully based on vegetables. In this dish, instead of boiling the vegetables before serving them, every ingredient serves as fresh and uncooked. The vegetables used to make karedok are bean sprouts, cucumbers, long beans, cabbage, eggplant, etc. Also, peanut sauce is used to add some flavor to this vegetable dish. The peanut sauce, which is used to drench karedok contains peanuts, chilies, galangal, Javanese sugar, shrimp paste, and vinegar.

Lontong:

Lontong is a tube-shaped rice cake, which is made of rice and wrapped in banana leaves that has a rubbery texture. It has a unique sensation when it is combined with soupy dishes like spicy chicken soup or with vegetable soup. Making this dish is more complicated than cooking rice. When the rice is half-cooked with all the water, it is then made into tube shapes using banana leaves as the wraps. Then it is made and put into a pressure cooker for hours in order to create a grainless rice cake.
