One thing that's missing from our favorite sci-fi video clips and TV shows, more often than not, is footage of characters going about their business in the kitchen. Ever wonder what kind of products Captain Jean-Luc Picard picks up from his local kitchen cabinet dealer? Or how the titular time lord from "Doctor Who" makes his breakfast? Strangely, on the rare occasions when kitchens do make appearances in sci-fi, the outlook for food preparation looks disappointingly pessimistic. Consider the paste the crew of the Nebuchadnezzar eats for dinner in "The Matrix." Yikes!

Nonetheless, the Zaha Hadid-designed kitchen includes touch control panels, mechanisms that respond automatically to sounds and odors, something called "embedded heating membranes," and even elaborate media-viewing devices. As for the cabinets, the structure professional sports what is the report points out as a "modular drawer-wall surface process," which most certainly isn't as confusing in order to operate because it tones.
