We have heard about thousands definitions of love. And according to one of my professors, 'love' is our universal language: everyone knows it; everyone understands it. From infancy to white ages, we all know that love is at work. it is not taught by words, it is learned through actions. And because of this thing called 'love', we become extraordinary, because with love, everything becomes possible.
First of all, the good example I can state is John 3:16. In Christianity, love is one of the important characteristics of God. This verse declares, "For God so loved the world." We believe that all the people love each other, because God first loved us (1 John 4:19). So everyone, whether a child or an adult, is able to love and to be loved because we acquired that characteristic from our Creator. John 3:16 also stated, "He gave His One and Only Son". God was able to sacrifice His Only Son, Jesus Christ, because He loved the world. (This is a pure example. I do not intend any form of bias in terms of religion.)
Love can push people beyond their limits. If you love, you will have this mindset that you strongly want to do something and you will also have strong determination to implement your idea. We can do impossibles. Love gives us confidence.
Love can bring us together. If we have love for each other, we will never meant to hurt one another. Instead, we'll find a way to reconcile our broken relationships.
Love can mold us to a person we want ourselves to be. If we love ourselves, we will do everything to be a person we want to be in the future. We'll determine ourselves, do hard works, and reprimand and rebuke our own mistakes.
Love can lead us. If we love our country, we'll be the pioneers of change. If we love our family, we'll be the leaders of peace. If we love our friends, we'll be the initiators of happiness. Love leads. Love initiates.
Love can change us. If we love, we will know what's right and wrong, and we'll choose to do what we think is right, considering those who will be affected by our decisions.
Those are tons of things love can do for us. And if we can really just put this feeling—this characteristic in our hearts, it'll be 100% guaranteed that we'll have a better place to live in. Judgmental people will decrease, poor people will get more opportunities, students will enjoy studies, everyone will learn to love what they are doing and they will be generous. Perhaps, no one will even know what hate is.
But Love is a choice. Maybe we do love, but the love we have right now is not enough to do the impossibles. We better check ourselves, not other's hearts. If we really love, why are we still like this? Why do we still hurt each other? Why is our life miserable?
Please take note that love and selfishness are different. Love builds you, while selfishness destroys you. People might misunderstand the connection and the likeness between these two. But one thing is for sure to check if you have love, not selfishness: If you love, you will do no harm.
some things must be taken care of individually, and some feelings have to be felt alone.
