Because all my life I was led to believe,
That to be who you are, you have to receive,
Approval from our wretched society,
Where fake is admirable and plastic is pretty.
So tell me in the face, should I really be sorry?
For being who I am, for not being worthy?
Because, as far as I can remember,
It's I who decides, whether to stop or flow with the river.
Because all my life I was forced to say sorry,
For all the things that I've done, that makes me, me.
And it's hard to decide, to defy or to follow.
Especially if it's your loved one that tells you you're low.
So tell me in the face, should I follow my heart?
Should I fight for my rights or stay in the dark?
Because, I, for one, is afraid of the light.
But maybe it's time to step out and do what's right.
