Wondering about the Electric AC Compressor? | Read this Guide!

Most drivers aren’t aware of everything going on under the hood and behind the dash to keep them cool in the summer and the windshield clear in the winter. Thanks to the heat-transfer properties of refrigerant, driven by the Electric AC compressor, comfort is just a button-press away.

Air Conditioning Parts

The air conditioning system itself consists of several main parts. The cooling water transfers heat from the Electric air conditioner (AC) to the condenser in front of the radiator, where it emits heat into the atmosphere. Then the heated coolant flows into the regulator or the fixed artery pipe. The evaporator takes the heat from inside the container before sending it back to the compressor. Along the way, the refrigerant passes through pipes and hoses, filters, and dryers.

Air Conditioning Compressor Basics

A simple Electric AC compressor is a six-piston 12-piston suction plate. The alternative plate is mounted in the form of an oscillating mobile shaft axis, driven by an EM clutch or an electric motor. Six double-sided pistons oscillate on the exchange plate, each piston performing bidirectional intake and compression. Reed valves control the flow of cooling water. A fine oily mist is formed when the coolant lubricates the moving parts and seals the rubber hoses and seals.

Compressor Maintenance

Since this is a sealed system, the only maintenance system required for a typical AC compressor is regular use to dispense the oils. When solving problems with the air conditioner, the load of the refrigerator should be taken into account, as excessive or insufficient pressure can shut down the system. For a positive impression, the drive belts must be clean and tight. Finally, an electrical inspection confirms the proper functioning of the pressure sensors and switches; electromagnetic clutch fuse and relay; and the clutch coil.

Replacing an Air Conditioning Compressor

Electric AC compressors can break down due to age, wear, or neglect. Most EM clutches can be replaced, but some EM clutches and all motor compressors will be replaced during assembly. Like a remanufactured air conditioning compressor, when replacing an AC compressor, use a recovery machine to remove the cooling water and protect the atmosphere. When reassembling, make sure the cooling water and oil are properly charged for performance and reliability. These features are listed in the repair manual.

Fortunately, the packaging is not too complicated, but it is sensitive. If you have problems with AC, it could be an AC compressor. Before accessing this sealed system, be sure to rule out all other options.
