Happiness Is...

" Excuse me, may I come in?" her eyes peeped though the half opened door.

"Yes..." came his stern reply.

She stepped into his study for the first time, after those two awkward weeks of their arranged marriage. She had come to call him for dinner but as she entered the room she was lost.

"You want something?" he questioned, his eyes still glued to the novel.

"Hey is that...umm, yes... Dinner is served..." she suppressed her excitement.

"Hmm will be there in 5 minutes...you go on...", he replied.

After 10 minutes when finally looked up from those yellow pages, he saw his favorite novel covering her face, " You still here...hey and that is..."

" Yes... this is my favorite novel... sorry I didn't want to disturb you... umm can I borrow this? Please?" she pleaded.

"Uhh.. you read? No one told me so, I thought you are only into dance and baking...Why didn't you tell me?" he was shocked to know they had similar interests.

"You never asked.. and anyway we never interacted much.. my parents might not have told you thinking it is not a good habit for wives... " she looked down thinking he will also shout as her mother had always done.

"Oh.. Don't worry.. You can come into my study and read up any book you want...Just be a bit careful, many are first editions so the books are a bit.."

" I will be very careful... I promise..." she replied with her expressive eyes staring straight into his.

He looked at her pretty face for the first time properly, smiled and said, " Actually, I am sure you will be careful, so feel free... Feel at home..."

Seeing her smile at that moment he came to know, Happiness is only true when shared.
