"AKIHIKO"

It was a sunny bright morning. The sky was clear blue with lusty sea azure. AKIHIKO was yet to leave his kennel at a corner of the house. No morning is ever there in his life that his master wouldn't come to call him up. That morning wasn't also an exception. He could see his master's feet coming towards him with his half opened eyes.
Finally the steps stopped at him and he felt a tender touch and rub on his hairs. Day's first wag broke. He was kissed on the forehead. With no late he loved back with a lick on his master's forearm to assure his life long loyalty and love for his master.
They were the only two members of the house living each moment for each other. They find joy in joy of the other. Their's was a relation where none felt any void. It seemed all the outworld DIRE perished into their bond.
So it was almost time for his master to leave for his bakery in the city which few kms away. AKI still demanded few cuddles that would make his day. His master never disappoints him. With no late he follwed his master and got a foamy fresh bath and a yummy breakfast. It had already a great start to the day for AKI.
It was time to bid his master for the day. He would stay at home like a gentle kid playing about the garden and looking around.
Many a times it happened that AKI got bored of the stay and would walk the distance to his master's shop leaving him in surprise. He would go there, helping his master and entertaining the customers and so an acquaintant.
AKI, after hours his master had left, couldn't bear the excitement to have a ride to the city. He felt like running to his master and thank-lick him (master) for all the the love he (master) shared with him.
Yes he didn't late. He started for the city. Like other days, he would be preferred cookies by the neighbouring vendors and he would accept all them wagging happily as he always been well beahaved.
Walking by the side along the road he crossed a bridge. But way before he entered the city he smelled something wrong. From then each steps he took he could unfold the pages of a storm that probably had just passed by. Iy was not the city he used to come. Dead silence all over. The world seemed have stopped. He saw people running about, lying around, few jumping on river, few screaming. But the thing that moved him the most was he lost his way. He couldn't find the way. Infact he couldn't find the city. He became restless. He fell weak and pale but running hard just for his master. Just to see where his master was, whom he wanted to express his warm love for one more time. He was running and running till his last. Dust, smoke and harsh all around. He was falling slow and weak. His body was aching. His eyes were no more as bright as they were. He kept running into the smoke knowing the inevitable and... HE LOST.

The day was 6th August, 1945 and the city he was entering was Hiroshima.
(Remembering those who died. 70 years of devastation.)
