I was reading The Lover's Dictionary by David Levithan and this word caught my attention. I even talked to a special friend of mine about it who would, I thought, understand why I admired so much Levithan's work on defining 'awhile'. Despite her sympathy to good pieces of writing, she wasn't as hypnotized as I was by this word. She explained that she couldn't understand what was so marvelous in such a vague word. 'Awhile' is peculiar--at least to me. In its vagueness, you can find yourself wondering about that kiss that took awhile to happen, or why it didn't happen. You see? It is profound, but still vague. Just as that friendly kiss. You got it now, Larissa?
