“.... and here we end Thermodynamics, the last chapter of our IIT JEE syllabus. So any questions?” Shyam sir asked the student. Somewhere in the last row Akhil raised his hand.

“Sir, what are the practical applications of thermodynamics in real life.”

The next moment Akhil saw may heads turned towards him and started laughing at him. While Shyam sir was staring at him, he seems to be annoyed.

“What is your name?” Shyam sir asked.

“Akhil” he said in a faint voice.

“So, Mr. Akhil, I hope you know that here we are preparing for the IIT JEE. These questions are never asked in the paper. AND THE EXAM IS JUST TWO WEEKS AWAY BETTER SHUT YOUR MOUTH AND STUDY. DON’T ASK SUCH QUESTIONS. IF YOU DON’T GET A GOOD RANK THEN WORK WITH A LOW SALARY AND BE A LOSER FOR YOUR WHOLE LIFE.” Shyam sir scolded him.

“How much marks do you got out of 360 in the last AITS?”

“Umm 112” Akhil answered.

“Do you how much Vineet got? He scored 336. Three times more than you. Be like him, you stupid boy.” Shyam sir shouted.

AFTER 5 YEARS

“…. We are here to celebrate the immense success of my best student, Vineet. He has always made me proud. First he bagged AIR 6 in JEE and today he got placed in world’s one of the best company FINCORP with a starting salary of 87 lakhs per annum” Shyam sir ended and the hall echoed with applause.

“Namaste sir” Akhil said.

Shyam sir turned and looked at Akhil for a while and then said “Akhil, right?”

“Yes sir” he answered.

“Someone told me you drop the college in the first year, what happened?” Shyam sir asked.

“Actually sir…” Akhil was saying but Vineet came on stage to gather the people.

“I think I should go. Give me your number I will call you” Shyam sir told him.

“Here sir, it’s my visiting card. Nice talking to you.” Akhil said and gave is card to Shyam sir which said…
