Cages of tradition

When she was young, they put her in cage

with dark walls and dark corners to stay

They cut her wings, they shut her throat

Then gradually they killed her soul

She screamed, but no voice came out of her mouth

She cried, please let me out

Then time comes, when she was ready

then they tie her neck with a collar

to serve men rich and poor

She took it as her destiny, no words she uttered

She faced wrath, she faced hate

Without any complain, she accepted her fate

One day while looking at mirror, she thought is this life?

to serve men and be their wives.

The very thought of it, shivered her soul

She woke from her dreams, and felt the walls closed

With all her force, she hit those walls

She saw  light and felt  the breeze that had stalled

Breaking every tradition, breaking every ritual she fought

and when it was all over , for the first time she saw the world she'd lost

She found love, she found praise

She got her wings, the bird was finally free from her cage.
