It took me long to scale this precipice
I overcame perilous rocks
And survived the gusty winds.
Here I stand on the edge
Breathing. Celebrating.
The view is spectacular.
The blue ocean below is unending
It almost seems harmless
I can hear the waves roar.
On this cliff, I rejoice
I have no aches or know sorrow
It's only me and my rhapsody.
I sing an unsung song
A cacophonous melody
Discernible only to me.
I know, I know
A day will come
And I will inevitably fall.
Into the deepest trenches
Of the ostensibly innocuous sea
As the cold waters engulf me
My song will be silenced
I will be forgotten. I would forget too.
Forget how it felt to be on the cliff.
Yet I'll survive.
I'd learn to swim.
And brave the tide.
Life goes on
Whether it's atop a cliff.
Or underneath the ocean.
