Cricket, the game of love.

Although Hockey is the national sport of India, Cricket is loved MUCH more.

Cricket actually helps make good human beings out of people.

As the legendary unsaid rule of street cricket goes, "That person who owneth the bat gets to bat first himself."

Never ever upset the guy who owns the ball, otherwise you'll be playing the remaining game with an imaginary ball.

If you're out with the lbw rule then you better agree.. or else they'll turn you into pulp, literally. (I have quite an experience!)

We normally play in internationally acclaimed stadiums which includes a narrow tarred road, surrounded by buildings which were deliberately built to have their windows, facing the pitch.

Aunties who always comb their hair at sharp 4 in the evening, sometimes open their windows right on time to have their faces smacked with the cricket ball.

Uncles come to play with us, at times and buy us chocolates.. Seriously they are the only ones who don't object to our cricket mania.

Well not all uncles....

Last week when I was in a terrific form, I smacked four consecutive sixers, probably because the bowler was a fifth grader. Anyways, I smacked the fifth ball again with the same force and right at the moment an uncle comes driving in his Jaguar XF... From the looks of it, it was a brand new car.

My shot caused the ball to fly towards his brand new luxury car and promptly broke the windshield. My faithful friends on seeing that, ran for their lives.. I ran as well, but as luck may have it, I tripped over. Gathering all my strength I stood as I faced a cyclone of expletives hurled mercilessly at me. His face turned red like a turnip, which I admit was funny. Trying to look guilty and controlling your laughter at the same time is something only people with superhuman abilities can do. So I laughed.

Today after 2 months of that incident, I declared my retirement along with Sachin Tendulkar. At least I have something in common with the God of cricket.
