The Dark Road

Is it the darkness that you lust?

Or is the light too bright for those eyes?

You think not twice; but a million times

Before travelling the path of self-annihilation

What is there to lose?

A great deal

Or perhaps nothing at all?

The urge to go back exists in your heart

But alas, you’re oblivious to it.

The fear of the unknown doesn’t cripple you

Because you’re way too blinded by your insatiable greed

You move ahead on that dark road

Crushing dreams like glass

Underneath your footsteps

Roses of love wither at your arrival

And the clouds of despair, obscure the sunlight of hope

But bear in mind, dear friend

Your feet will bleed by the splinters you’ve spread

And the thorns will prick your palms

The clouds will drench you in the rain of your own deeds

And by then, it will be too late to turn back.
