Today was the last day of classes in the academic calendar in our college, and the day had been quite great. Not only was this feeling the result of my knowledge that only the exams separate me from the train back home, but also because I could closely study the various forms of human emotions and expressions...
In class, while acting out a part of our most successful drama, I realized that it is worthwhile to forget yourself and your ego if that could mean bringing a smile into the faces of others. I would never forget the laughter of our Mechanics ma'am, for her image in my mind was so far no different than that of Hitler or Napoleon...
Later, as the classes ended, an array of white shirts an the strong stench of marker fluid greeted us. The flow of emotions and partial satirical humor had made their way onto those white shirts, in the form of the unending "miss you"s, to "happy married life" and many other such stuff which I better not discuss on a public platform!
As we traversed down the roads which to quite a few had become the memory lane of their life, we came across groups of people narrating the story of the last 4 years to each other and recalling their most cherished moments. By the time we reached the sunken ground, it was pure madness. People running from everywhere to everywhere, flinging people in the air, throwing each others bags in the air, bathing each other in cold drinks and foam.
I could see the ecstasy in their eyes, they'll be free forever from these bounds. No more classes, no more exams, no more boring lectures. But, doesn't that mean no more hangouts with friends, no more making fun of each other, no more bunking classes together, no more midnight Counter Strike sessions? Indeed, those very expressions reflected on some wayward faces. As I thought over and over on this variety and range of last moment emotions, my eyes caught a glimpse of a glistening tear drop on one of the girls' cheeks, shimmering in it's full glory in the setting sun. Her spirits fell with that falling tear drop, and soon like a forest fire, everyone was looking at each other with those filmy eyes.
Just then Haddi mentioned food, and down went all those emotions that had started to build up. We can definitely cry some other day, but such opportunities for free food won't come by everyday. Well, it wasn't totally free, I ended up paying Rs 2, which is a significant contribution from my side since I've hardly ever contributed in such occasions.
