Lying on the grass under the dark sky,
I enjoyed the silent night.
With the full moon up high
The stars dancing around was a pleasing sight.
A peaceful day it was,
After quite a long while.
Never did I have the time to pause
To look at the world around and smile.
Never had the time to even wonder
If there was another world apart from where I stood.
Never imagined the little things around to be such a splendor,
Cool breeze, chirping birds, smiling flowers, all so warm and good.
After many long years did I catch
The beautiful view of the sun set.
For all the little cheerful moments that I let my work snatch,
I could do nothing but regret.
All these years were contending,
But HAPPINESS was something else altogether.
A tensed and burdensome life was what I kept spending,
While this day made me feel as calm and light as a feather!
Not a laptop or tons of papers or any documents,
I was only surrounded by every little thing that made me feel alive.
Regardless of the time and any consequence,
I decided to agree to the call of the quiet city for another long drive.
The night was strangely soothing, beautiful, calm, not a yelp,
I reluctantly stood upright and walked across.
"Thank you!" I whispered to myself.
For bravely asking for a day's leave from the boss!
