Design Guidelines Vintage Princess Disco Dress

Step 1: Design and cut the pattern

To design your pattern you will need two measurements: your waist circumference and the distance from your waist to the bottom of your skirt - the length of your skirt (below the knee / above your knee / ankle).

+ Skirts design: To calculate leg width: Divide your waist into two and then multiply by 3.

For example, the waist circumference is 60 cm. Add 1 cm for movement amount = 61 cm and divide by two = 30.5 cm. Then multiply 30.5 cm x 3 = 91.5 (cm). 91.5 cm will be the width of the skirt leg

The distance from the waist to the point where you want the hem to end is the length of the bottom of the skirt.

Below is an illustration for the design of your skirt. After drawing according to the width calculated above, add 1.5 cm of the surrounding seam allowance. After having pattern, you need to cut 2 pieces of fabric for this skirt part. One piece is the front of the skirt, the other piece will be the back of the skirt. Fight the position of the tear lock

+ Design the upper body

To design the upper body, find a shirt that fits you. Make sure that if you choose gingham or other non-stretch fabric, you will also need to take a non-stretch shirt as a sample.

Put the shirt flat on the paper, you can fold the shirt as shown in the picture using a pencil to draw the necklace, the side of the armpit and the bottom. Then draw the pattern as shown in the picture.

For your waistline, you can apply the following formula to get your waist width:

Front Body: (Waist + 1) / 4 + 3 cm. 3 cm is the size of the extraction.

Rear Body: (Waist + 1) / 4 + 2 cm. 2 cm is the magnitude of the extraction.

In the front body you also design a cup about 1 cm chest as shown.

Add 1.5 cm of seam allowance around the ribs and waist, 1.2 cm of neck and armpit circumference.

Design the upper body

Next is cutting the fabric according to the design pattern.

Cut 4 more strips of wire to make the shirt.

Step 2: Sewing skirt legs

First, wring the window around the two pieces of cloth you just cut.

Place two pieces of fabric with their right side facing each other, fix the sides with staples, then sew the sides together. The seam is 1.5 cm from the edge of the fabric. Pay attention to the side with sewing thread lock sewing to the marked position and re-stitch it firmly.

After sewing, use the iron to turn two very flat seams.

Sew the extraction cups before and after

Next, place the front and rear hulls so that their right faces face together, staple and sew the bodies together on one side of the rib that is not locked. Use iron to turn smoothly smooth seam. On the side, you can sew the comb if you want.

Sewing two bodies together

Is to fold the axillary and neck lines about 1.2 cm. Sew the seam about 7 mm from the edge of the fabric.

Sew the 4 threads of the garment folded, then sew it on with the body as shown above.

Then, you sew lace lace on the armpits and neck to make the dress prettier.

Step 4: Sew the upper body on with the skirt

Flip the left side of the skirt out, the upper body leaves the right side out. Insert the upper body into the skirt leg.

Insert the upper body into the skirt leg.
