Despondent Desires

I was fighting a fight that I didn't mean to.
I was believing a cause that I didn't understand.
I was following a dream that I never see.
And I exhausted myself till I couldn't stand.

I never knew what I really wanted,
So I took whatever looked good.
Till I found I wasn't really looking,
I just wanted a lazy food.

And yet I couldn't cook my favorite soup,
So it finally dawned,
Disgusted, I shattered my own portrait,
once held to the epitome of my demeanor, now all on to the ground.

I am but a clown.
