Different Types Of Concrete That One Should Know About

Are you planning to contrast a new house? If yes, then you probably think about what kind of concrete is suitable for your project. Concrete is a durable and beautiful composite building material made with a mixture of water, cement, coarse aggregates, and fine aggregates.

Various kinds of Concrete products are available on the market to choose from. We suggest you invest some time in choosing the light concrete product because it makes your building strong and durable. However, one can also hire a concrete company as they will tell you what concrete is suitable.

Plain Concrete

Plain concrete is also known as ordinary concrete. Contractors use this concrete with a mix ratio of 1:2:4 of cement, sand, and aggregates. This is usually used in small projects because it is not much stronger and more durable than others.

The compressive strength of plain concrete range between 200 to 500 kg per centimeter square, and the density of the same concrete vary between 2200 and 2500 kg/meter cube.

Normal Strength Concrete

Normal strength concrete is a basic type created by mixing water cement and aggregates. Usually this type of concrete is usually used for buildings and pavements that do not require high tensile strength.

Depending on the weather conditions of the site and cement properties, the moral strength of this particular concrete has the initial setting type of 30 to 90 minutes. Although it has similar ingredients to plain concrete, it differs in strength with 10-40 MPa.

Precast Concrete

Casting a block of concrete in a reusable mold cured in a controlled environment to gain the desired strength creates precast concrete. It is transported to the contraction sites to form precast structures such as walls and floors. In addition, this concrete is also used as a decorative piece in homes and protective fencing in private residential properties.

Lightweight Concrete

Lightweight concrete is also called cellular concrete and flowable concrete. It comprises various aggregates such as clay, shales, and pumice. These are commonly used for protecting the steel structure. It is also used for fabricating structures such as floor slabs, long-spanning, and window panels.

Asphalt Concrete

Asphalt concrete is black and consists of a mixture of hydrocarbons called bitumens. This is also commonly known as blacktop concrete. It is the first preference for pavement work and projects such as airport runways and highways.
