Inspired by nature:
Thirteen years ago, she was six and so fond of walking beside her grandfather’s humble rice field. Slipping from a stone, her knees were badly wounded so tears went along and poured her innocent face. It’s unbearable but the pain gradually eased when a humid air stroked her hair, caressing it. When the wind stopped, she ended up realizing that there is always something which helps a person to stand again and to persevere, no matter how hard it was. After standing from falling, she just saw herself molding something from mud and building her dream house. That’s when she got her first lesson— life is painful. People should know how to create dreams from it.
Those ten amazing years had passed. Everything seemed to be just yesterday when she used to be seated on a branch of their mango tree, hastily waiting to become an older version of her. Quite ironic on what she felt right this moment where she beseeches she’ d never grow older through the past ten years. It’s the time when she realizes that Peter Pan is right, growing older is not fun. From happily counting the leaves she collected from a clover, now, she simultaneously counting how many drowning problems that give anxiety will come. She’s dying wish to live in her life once more, pausing it to her childhood wherein she enjoys every moment hanging on a vine, swinging from tree to tree and shouting as if she’s an echo savoring the tranquil caves. She still hopes to bring back those times that she misses. When she has grown up, that’s when she learnt her second lesson—valuing time. People should know how to make the fullest out of it knowing that it is too short and no one can hold it back.
Time is blistering like a majestic waterfall in the deepest part of the ocean. Recently, she witnessed how her green mentor taught people about discipline. That once a person forgot the worth of something, he’ll end up suffering. It was evident when the worst scenery was seen in the world as an effect of the penetration of super typhoon Yolanda to the Philippine territory. The country almost cried with bloodshed as tears. There are many losses including lives, properties, dreams, and happiness. That’s when she learnt the third but not the last lesson that she will encounter in her short existence— sometimes, a person will learn in the most painful way, that we people, grasp it after collateral damages were made.
It’s nearly two decades ago when an innocent infant first says hi to the world. She’s a stranger until years departed and she finally met her green mentor. The mentor taught her to be a dreamer, no matter how painful her experience was. Her mentor always emphasizes the treasures hidden in time, for the reason that people only cross a part of their path once. The latest lesson that the experience is that learning can be painful— a long but a continuous process. So whatever errors caused by humanity, no matter how many catastrophic calamities will enter neither the Philippines nor the other parts of the world; there’s always a new sprout to be born that will repaint smiles to our lips. Remembering that no matter how hard the storm is, there are hopeful seeds that will be scattered around the land to start the new chapter— a new beginning. Her mentor trains her to be a better version of who she is today. Now, she can stand as strong as her convictions, ideals, values, and aspirations. She completely understands that any person sharpened by trials can be as tough as Narra trees. That’s what someone discovered in her mentor’s green book called ‘Nature’ and the young girl inside this essay, it’s only now when she realized who she really is. Can you guess who is she?
