ECLIPSE

Note - This is a hypothetical ballad about a sunflower and the Sun. As we all know that the sunflower follows the Sun from east to west during the day just as a lover follows its love. But one day there is a solar eclipse and the sunflower couldn't see the Sun.. What happens next is as follows -

Lunar eclipse darkened the night,

The moon came up to give a fight,

It overshadowed the sun's might,

But the sun stood there firm and bright.

Meanwhile on earth a sunflower frowned,

Because its beloved sun was nowhere found,

Its head hung up and the stem went down,

Slowly it started falling towards the ground.

The sunflower was sad and full of fear,

That it might just perish without the sun being near,

And hence it started to pray so that it can bear,

Not the pain of death but the pain of losing its dear.

So it prayed "oh lord, let me feel its warmth one last time,

Before death strikes the last ding on my chime",

And hence it looked up for that eternal shine,

Consoling itself “god will give me what was always mine".

The moon was evil and enjoyed the scene,

And the sun just wondered how it can be so mean,

The sun grew anxious and the sunflower was keen,

But the sunflower's beloved was nowhere to be seen.

The sunflower grew weaker as it tried,

And for the first time the mighty sun cried,

"Who would be with me if the sunflower died?

Where will I find that smile which even the universe denied".

“Who would bear my heat and still return a smile?

Who would chase me down in the journey of a thousand mile?”

The moon stood firmly though the sun wanted it to be agile,

Meanwhile the sunflower lost all hopes and grew fragile.

And so the sunflower finally hit the ground,

Dying in grief as its beloved was nowhere around,

It felt betrayed by the one which was unbound,

But then there was something which was to be found.

The ground was warm by the warmth of the sun,

And the flower felt that its wish was finally done,

It could feel the warmth which actually begun,

Restoring its faith in the affection of the sun.

It felt as if the sun was somewhere near,

And to comfort it had left its warmth everywhere,

The flower gave up all its doubts and fear,

When it realized that the sun loved it more and was always there.

So the flower finally smiled in the closing hour,

And the sun went crazy but couldn’t move an inch towards the flower,

It went mad and spun on its axis creating a force of great power,

Which would have shot all planets and moons towards it like a shower.

Ultimately the moon realized its mistake and the wrath it brought,

So it decided to step aside though now no solution could be sought,

“One last try to avoid the wrath” was all it thought,

On last visual of the smile might end the battle which was still not fought.

So the eclipse finally ended and there was sunshine again,

The sun saw its dead beloved bearing a smile despite all the pain,

So the mighty spin stopped and the sun stared like an insane,

Thinking about the losses he had which he would never regain.

Oh! The pain it endured at that moment was beyond one’s feel,

But the smile on the sunflower’s face taught it of the undying zeal,

Zeal of love and passion which can always heal,

Unlike revenge and remorse which can only kill.

Hence the sun decided to carry love and to shower,

Its gentle sunshine on the world which was loved by the sunflower,

And thus it shone again with mighty power,

Undeterred by any more eclipses and for all the flowers!!!!
