Fool's Paradise

I often wonder,

If it was my chaos

Or undying passion

That drove you away...

I knew nothing about this feeling

Until you came along

Didn't sweep me off my feet,

Rather tricked my heart to fall...

Into the deep ocean of your lies.

Believing you were my anchor,

I let myself drown.

For a moment,

I let go of my inhibitions

Let my insecurities fade

And the walls break

Felt beautiful for the last time ever...

Till you vanquished my spirit in every way.

I remember the promises;

Under the starry nights

As we held each other,

The night breeze caressing our souls

And we lay feeling whole together.

I lived in a fool's paradise;

Should have known..

It was all a facade.

Woke up from the trance finally,

To find no trace

Of you, your scent or your embrace...

My heart perceived it as a lie

But my mind knew better.

The walls I had once broken for you

Are now built higher...

You ebbed my pain away

Strung along with my fantasy

Albeit fleetingly...

Now I lie on the floor,

Bare and bleeding all over

From the depths of my soul.
