Forbidden Love

I love you so much,

But I can't even look at your face.

We must be apart,

With some kind of space.

To separate our hearts,

So we cannot love.

To make sure we can't,

It makes us wish we were above.

Daddy says no,

Mama says that we can't.

A marriage between us,

No preacher would grant.

You say "meet me tonight",

I say that I will.

When the moon comes up,

Your body grew still.

Daddy came up and caught us,

We were in your room together.

My heart beat fast,

My head was as light as a feather.

With a very loud boom,

You hit the floor.

Another loud boom,

I went flying to the door.

It was too late,

You were gone from my world.

My heart grew cold,

It gnarled and curl'd.

For the rest of my time,

I was left to remember.

How my daddy had burned you,

Among a fire of embers.

And to this day,

I love you still.

Now as I write this,

I've grown very ill.

I'll see you again soon,

My one and only.

I can feel death coming,

It's coming so closely...
