“Ugly” “Freak” “Bitch “Whore” is all I hear as I walk through the hallways of Exeter Senior High School. I have put up with this since day one of my freshman year mainly I was the new girl and where I came from my style was common. I have a few friends who stick up for me from time to time but really there are only four people in my life who I truly care about and who always stick up for me not matter what, but they don’t know what I have been planning for the past few weeks.
As I sat at lunch with my four best friends Lauren, Jack, Steven and Nick, I thought about what I would be doing tonight. “Angel you okay” Lauren asked “I’m fine” I lied. I always did this because I didn't want them to worry about me even though they probably already do.
“So Angel what are you doing tonight besides sulking” Steven asked “I’m planning on taking my life” I thought. “Oh just watching my shows since it is Wednesday” “Oh right because I was wondering of you maybe wanted to play x-box tonight like we always used to do” “I don’t know Steven I have a lot to do tonight” “Like take your life” my subconscious added.
“LEAVE LUNCH “called the lunch aid
“Alright I’ll catch you guys later” I said going to my history class which luckily was the last class of the day. “See ya Angel” Jack called, I felt his eyes on me as I walked up the stairs to class, but when I turned he was gone.
“I’m home” I called as my brother and I entered the house. “Angelina Nicole Walker! What the hell is this” my father yelled holding up my most recently used razor for my wrists. “I shaved my legs last night in the shower” I lied “Yeah right do I have to send you to a mental hospital because if you don’t believe me I will” “Sorry dad” I say grabbing the razor from his hand and heading to my bedroom.
“Ugh I’m so tired of his shit, I mean he knows how I am why does he need to question me about it” I said to Jack over face time.
“I don’t know Mickey” Mickey was his nickname for me; it was my uncle Kenny called me before he died a couple months back, and Jack insisted on calling me that to keep his spirit alive. “Jack I were to tell you that I was going to end my life what would you say to me” “Angel don’t even think about it. I don’t even want to either, you are my best friend and if you killed yourself over what people are saying about you it’s stupid”
“Angelina Nicole, get off the phone right now and do your laundry!” mother yelled.
“I’ll see you tomorrow Jack” “I better see you tomorrow. Good night Mickey” “Good Night.”
After hanging up I went to start my laundry. As usual I had my mom barking over my shoulder “Did you feed your cat” “yes mother” “Did you mix your sisters laundry with yours” yes mother” “Okay then what are you waiting for get done!” she yelled.
After I had finished all of my and my sister’s laundry I went to my room for the rest of the night. “Well this is it” tonight was the night in which I had planned to take my life. Going on Facebook, I messaged Lauren, Jack, Nick and Steven in a group message “First I want to thank all of you for all the laughs we have had in the past few months. At this time I have prepared a short paragraph for each of you stating my final goodbyes” Then I began the goodbyes:
“Lauren- You are my best friend and always will be, we never fought nor argued and I loved it. Your carefree spirit is what I love most about you. As I make my trip to the next life my last thought of you will be of our laughs in English.”
As I finished Lauren’s paragraph tears welled in my eyes threatening to spill. I then started Jack’s paragraph
“Jack you are the best guy friend I could ever imagine of having. Every day you found a new way to make me laugh to the point where I had tears in my eyes. When I met you in German I had no idea what that our friendship would be like this. Your smile and laugh is what I loved most about you. As I make the trip to the next life my final thought of you will be your smile that always lite up my day.”
When I finished his paragraph Jack texted me:
J:*Hey, what are you doing tonight*
A:*Oh, nothing just sitting in my room by myself as usual*
J:*Well I was think I come sneak you out and we go out to a movie just you and me how does that sound*
A:*that would be just perfect Jack :)*
J:*:) Okay I’ll be there in about an hour*
Okay so I had an hour to end this all I thought as I began writing Nick and Steven’s paragraph
“Nick- I saw our friendship is something that you would see in a movie and the way you knew almost everything about stuff like Fiats and Apple it never ceased to amaze me. The way you always asked me if I was ready for the quiz or test I what I’ll remember as I make the trip to the next life” I grabbed the razor and started to write the last paragraph that was to Steven
“Steven- I could say so much but I want to keep this short, you were the funniest out of all our friend to me and you signature ‘meep’ as you walked behind me in lunch is what I listened for everyday when I waited for you at lunch. The way you smiled and always said that you were Batman is what I loved about you. My last thought of you as I make my trip to the next life is of the way we had the most perverted conversations and no one at the table even knew what we were talking about.”
When I sent that all to them, and everyone had seen it I picked up the razor and went into the bathroom. I started the shower and climbed in. Little did I know Jack was already on his way to sneak me out or our movie. I slid the razor across both of my wrists then my ankles and to finish myself off I did a thin line just above my breasts. I heard a banging on the front door as I slid into unconsciousness. My very own angel had come to save me.
*JACK’S POV*
“Can I help you” Her mother asked as she opened the door “Move” was all I said as I forced myself past her “What the hell do you think you are doing?!” She yelled after me “Where is she” “What “WHERE THE HELL IS SHE” “Who” “your daughter” “In the shower”
As I burst into the bathroom I found her lying face down in the shower, and instead of soap going down the drains it was blood. “ANGEL” I screamed as I scooped her out of the shower throwing her towel over her. Examining her cuts I predicted she didn't have much time left so I literally forced her father to take us to the hospital then I made him leave. “PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE” I screamed as I carried her into the emergency room. “What happened son” the nurse asked me “She attempted suicide and she has many cuts PLEASE help me save her” I cried tears swelling in my eyes “Bring her this way” the doctor shouted as I rushed her to a room. Immediately her cuts were wrapped and she was sedated to make sure she wouldn't wake up.
I cried as I watched my best friend lay in the hospital bed unconscious because I was too blind to see what was happening. When the doctors had finally left the room I called Steven
“Hello” “Steven, its Jack” “Jack what is it its 12:30 in the morning” “Steven, its Angel.” “What about her” “She tried to kill herself” “WHAT THE FUCK WHY HAVE I BEEN SO FUCKING BLIND” Then in the background I heard his mother “Steven what’s wrong” “It’s my friend she tried to kill herself” “Oh my god, I’m so sorry Steven” “It’s fine mom, can I stay home so I can go see her tomorrow” “Of course Steven” “Thanks mom. Okay Jack I’ll be there tomorrow” “Okay see you soon” Then I hung up. Instead of calling the rest of our group I decided to get some sleep.
When I woke the next morning I heard a sound that sounded like crying. I left my eyes shut to listen to hear who it was. “Oh Angel why have I been so blind as to see what was going on with you. I could have saved you but yet I chose to ignore it. I’m so sorry Angel please forgive me” It was Steven, I never heard him cry before. “Hey Steven” I said finally opening my eyes “Oh hi Jack” He sniffed “Hey there’s no need to cry the doctors said she would be okay” I said “Jack you aren't letting her go back to that hell hole of a house she calls home are you” “Only if she wants to” “Have you told the others” “no I called you because besides me and Lauren, I think you two are really close” “We are really close and I couldn't imagine who I would have the perverted conversations with if I lost her” “I can’t imagine what I would do without making her smile and laugh everyday” it’s true I did love making her smile and laugh everyday no matter what kind of day either of us were having. When I saw the message she had sent me on Facebook I was right down the street from her house and I knew I had to save her.
“Steven what time is it” “12:30 why?” the doctors said she should wake up in 15 hours of her be sedated. Which was at 10:30 last night” “so around 1:00” I nodded even though I wanted to be alone with her when she woke up I knew she would be happy to see both me and Steven there when she woke up. “Should I text the others” “I have Lauren’s. I don’t have Nick’s so you text him and I’ll text her” “alright”:
J:*Hey Lauren is there any way you can leave school early*
L:*Why? Where are you*
J:*I’m at the hospital*
L:*Are you okay!*
J:*Yeah I’m fine well physically not emotionally*
L:*what happened*
J:*Angel*
L:*NO!*
J:*She’s okay I got her here just in time*
Lauren was the only one I told about my feelings for Angel
L:*Is Steven there too*
J:*Yeah he got here this morning. He didn't go to school today because of it*
L:*How did he find out*
J:*I told him last night because he texted me asking how my ‘date’ with Angel was going*
L:*Oh, is he okay*
J:* I don’t think so*
L:*Alright I texted my mom about it she said she would come and get me and we’ll be there within the next half hour. Is she awake*
J:*No she should be waking up around 1*
L:*Okay see you soon*
J:*see ya*
“What did Nick say” “He said he’d be here as soon as possible his mom is bringing him. What about Lauren” “On her way” “Great the whole group could be here when she wakes up. Anyway I’m going to get some food you want anything” “Just water” “Alright”
When Steven left I took the time to tell an unconscious Angel about my true feelings about her “Hey Mickey I don’t know if you can hear me but if you can I just want you to listen. Since the day I considered us best friends I knew I wanted to be more than friends, but I refused to show them in that way because you told me that you liked Steven to make you happy I left you alone and eventually went out with Tayler to try and erase my feelings for you but it was impossible. Every day at lunch your smile and laugh killed me I knew I would never be able to kill my feelings for you. I promise from this day forth I will always be by your side not matter what. What I guess I’m trying to say is that I’m in love with my best friend and I hope she is in love with me too”
“Wow Jack those are some powerful words you just said” Steven said “Oh uh um” I muttered I could feel could feel the heat of embarrassment in my face. “So you like her” “Yeah” “I knew it. I could see it in your eyes Jack” “Promise me you won’t tell her” “I won’t even though there is a possibility that she heard you” “I know” I said as Lauren walked into the room.
“Hey guys” I could tell she was crying. Angel was a very close friend to Lauren. “Hey there’s no need to cry she is going to be okay” “I know it’s just I can’t believe this actually happened she always seemed so happy.” “Well they always say the most hurt and alone smile the brightest because they are afraid of showing weakness” I said trying to calm her down as Nick walked in.
“Is she awake yet” “No, not yet but she should be soon because it is now one o’clock” I said taking my seat next her bed as Steven sat at the edge of her bed, Lauren was next to me and nick stood by the door.
“So Jack you finally got a look in on the hell hole she lived in what is it like” “Well for one thing she was right about her mom being a bitch, but her siblings did love her I mean CJ wanted to come with us but his dad yelled at him about something."
“Jack, Lauren she moving” Steven said, I took a hold of her hand as she began to wake up “Come on Mickey wake up” I whispered as she moved her head towards the sound of my voice, she smiled knowing it was me, then the moment we had all been waiting for she opened her eyes and whispered “Hey Jack, Lauren, Steven, Nick. You’re all here god I love you guys” she was still a little out of it because of the drugs. As she slowly lifted her head she looked at our hands and smiled again “Thanks Jack” “What” “For being my Angel and saving me” “You’re welcome” I said kissing her forehead lightly. After realizing what I had done my face went red with embarrassment again “I’ll go get the doctor” Nick spoke up. “Steven what’s up buddy” she said, so this is what she must sound like when she is drunk. “Nothing just very glad that you’re alive” “Aw thanks bud. You guys are really the best friends I could have ever asked for you know that right” we nodded.
“Alright Ms. Walker welcome back to the land of the living, we are just going to check your vitals and then well I’ll call your parents and have them come here to take you home.” She looked at me quickly “Her parents are away so she is staying with me” “Alright then why don’t you call your mom and she can come take her back home” “Thank you” I said I dialed my mom’s phone:
J's mom:“Hey Jack how’s everything with Angel”
J:“It’s going good. She is awake and it’s time for you to come sign her out so she can go home”
J's mom:“Why me”
J:“Because she’s staying with us while her parents are away”
J's mom:“Oh, alright well I’m on my way I’ll be there soon”
J:“See ya mom”
J's mom“Bye Jack”
I hung up “Mom’s on her way” “Alright I’ll be back when she gets here” then the doctor left the room “Thank you Jack” “Hey I’d do anything for you Angel your my best friend.” “Same to you” I leaned down and whispered in her ear
“Though we both want to be more than friends” Her eyes went wide “Okay I don’t know if the drugs are still in my system or not but did you just say what I thought you said” I nodded “Come here” I leaned back down to her and she whispered in my ear “I’m just playing around I heard every word you said while I was down under” She whispered than kissed my cheek.
“Hey guys” My mom said as she walked into the room “Hi” “Hey Mom” “So Angel you ready to go” “Yup” she said “ You want me to help you out” “Please” I laughed at her because I have never seen here act this way and to tell you the truth I actually liked it.
Lauren and Steven came back from the hospital with us Nick didn't because his mom was waiting outside for him.
“So Angel is your parents really away” my mom asked. I looked to find her asleep on my lap. “Mom she’s asleep” “oh” The rest of the ride was spent in silence.
“Are you going to wake her up” Steven asked “and spoil that beautiful face, you’re funny” He smiled “Alright then I’ll just carry her then” “Uh no you won’t I will” I said stepping towards him “Alright, Alright” Steven said stepping back with his hands up in surrender. I lifted her up to find she was very light.
As I laid her carefully on the couch I went to my room to get it situated for both of us tonight “Jack what are you doing” My brother Ryan said coming into my room “I’m just making sure everything is okay for Angel to stay in here tonight” “Oh, okay and mom wanted me to tell you dinner will be ready in about 15 minutes” He said walking out.
When I finally finished I knew Angel was still asleep so I turned my phone on in my I-home and softly played the song that reminded me of her. We had sung it together many times before when we were face timing. I opened my window and just stood there and sang out my window which I normally so when I’m alone. Both Lauren and Steven are still here but they know to leave me alone at this time.
“Cause all of me loves all of you” I sang then out of nowhere she joined me “Love your curves and all your edges all your perfect imperfections” “Give your all to me, I give my all to you, your my end and my beginning even when I lose I’m winning.” We sang together. She then stopped and looked out the window as I continued “Give your all to me. Cards on the table we’re both showing hearts, risking it all though it’s hard.” We continued our song until my mom called us for dinner.
“So Angel, how are you feeling” “I’m feeling much better” She replied pulling her sleeve down on her shirt to hide her cuts from my younger siblings. I placed my hand on her thigh to give her comfort because I could tell she was nervous.
“So I tried to ask you this in the car, but you were asleep. Are your parents really away?” She shook her head, which shocked me I expected her to lie for a little while longer. “Jack you have some explaining to do” “I will, tonight after they go to bed” I said gesturing to my younger siblings. She nodded in reply.
From then on it was just small talk between me, Angel, Lauren, and Steven. My family had quickly finished and left the table before us. “You know what guys. We have to actually go out to dinner one night, just the four of us.” Lauren laughed “Trust me Lauren, this group would NOT do good in a restaurant.” I laughed with Lauren.
I looked at Angel to find she had barely eaten “Mickey you okay?” I asked “Yeah just not really that hungry. Haven’t been for quite some time” “That’s why she is so light, she hasn't been eating right.” “When was the last time you ate?” “Hmm, about 3 months” “You have gone three whole months without eating” “What, No it’s been that long since I have had a proper meal.” I couldn't believe it, not only was she trying to kill herself but she was also anorexic. What kind of friend am I. “The kind that is too blind to see what is happening to her” my subconscious added.
“Steven, can I talk with you for a moment” I said to a shocked looking Steven. He quickly followed me into the hallway just outside the dining room. “Did you know about her being anorexic?” “No, I had no I idea” “but you have taken her out to dinner how many times” “We never really went out to dinner we always just went out and laughed the night away at the park.” He looked as shocked as I felt. As we walked back to the table, Angel gave us a small smile before turning back to her food, which she had started picking at.
I leaned down to whisper in her ear “Angel you don’t have to eat it if you don’t want to.” She shook her head “I have to fix myself and I plan on starting with my anorexia” I hugged her tightly “I’ll be there with you every step of the way” “We all will” Lauren chimed in. “She’s right we all will be right by your side your entire recovery” tears came to her eyes as she smiled “I really can’t thank you guys enough, You all have helped me so much in the year we have known each other. I can’t believe I can call you four my best friends” What she said warmed my heart, as she did so my mom came in and she was on my phone.
“Alright she is right here” My mom said she had sounded very irritated, as she handed the phone to Angel.
*ANGEL’S POV*
“Hello” “ANGELINA NICOLE WALKER WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU” “You know what mother I don’t want to tell you. Though I will tell you this I’m am very happy where I am right now and you can’t change that no matter what you say or do.” I yelled back into the phone.
My mother must have found my phone and found Jack’s number thinking I’d be with him since he was the one who rescued me. To tell you the truth I have like Jack for the longest time. The way he made me smile and laugh everyday made my day. It showed me how much he cared about me. Jack was the friend who didn't care who he was dating he would walk around school with his hand in mine and his arm wrapped around me. Which didn't bother me any. Though it made his girlfriend really jealous and she left him because he was spending so much time with me other than her.
“Angel is everything okay?” Jack asked “It’s just my mom Jack, I’m sure she’ll just hang up on me like she normally does” I sighed. “I WANT YOU HOME NOW” “No, mother I’m not” “UGH WHY ARE YOU SO DIFFICULT” She screamed as she hung up.
“Everything okay” “yeah it’s fine” “What did she say” “That she wants me home” “There is absolutely NO way I am letting you home to that hell hole.” “I know and that’s why I love you so much” I said hugging him tightly. “And I love you” He whispered in my ear; he took our plates to be washed. “See ya Jack. Bye Angel” Lauren called from the living room “Bye Lauren” We called back.
“Angel can I talk to you” Steven asked “Yeah” I said following him outside “What is it buddy” “It’s just I don’t know if you heard me when you were down under and I wanted you to know that along with Jack I will be there every step of your road to recovery.” “Thanks Steven” “Hey do you want to go to the park like we used to tomorrow?” “Sure why not” “Okay I’ll pick you up” He walked up to me and gave me a tight hug. When he pulled away we looked into each other’s eyes “Angel have I ever told you that your eyes are gorgeous” “and so are yours Steven.” Because Steven was a bit taller than me I had to stretch onto my tippy toes. When he realized what I was doing he leaned in and kissed me.
When he reached me I melted in his arms. I couldn't believe how good of a kisser he was. When we parted I smiled at him then went back inside with Jack. “Bye Angel, See ya Jack” “Bye Steven” We called as Steven left.
*JACK’S POV*
At 10:30 my siblings were all in bed and Angel and I were cuddled up watching a movie. We were watching we ever saw together in theaters, Frozen. When the movie was over my mom walked in.
“Alright they’re asleep, now explain to me why I had to come sign her out of the hospital” As expected Angel looked at me. I sighed “Alright mom I’ll tell you but you have to promise not to tell anyone, not dad anyone” She nodded.
“Alright, Angel here has been physically and verbally abused by her mother and to top it off she is bullied at school. So me, being the best friend to her I am, after receiving the message on Facebook that she had finally decided to take her life I knew I had to save her. I had already snuck out to go take her to the moves and get her out of the house. I did that a on a regular basis when I was dating Tayler. When I got there not knowing that she was actually telling the truth about her mother being a bitch I discovered that I wasn't too late, she still had some time before it was too late. So I forced her father to take us to the hospital then made him leave because I didn't want her to see him when she woke up. After crying myself to sleep that night I made it up in my mind the day she was released instead of having her parents coming to sign her out I would have her come stay with us, because I knew if she went back there I would never see her again because her parents would not allow her back at school to prevent her from telling anyone.” “Wow Jack, that sounds like something I would have done for one of my closest friends.” My mom said “Thank you for explaining to me, now off to bed with the both with you.” During my explaining Angel had fallen asleep, so I picked her up and carried her to my room. “Goodnight Mickey, I love you” I whispered kissing her forehead before laying on the makeshift bed I had made for myself.
“NO PLEASE I DIDN'T MEAN IT PLEASE STOP!” I heard her scream in the middle of the night. I jumped awake to find her still asleep but in the corner of my room. “Angel, Angel, ANGEL” I said shaking her awake, when she flashed open her eyes she started to tear up. I wrapped my arms around her and started to rock her back and forth whispering in her ear “It’s okay, she not going to hurt you anymore, it’s okay” After she had stopped crying I put her back in my bed but as I went to turn and lay back down in my ‘bed’ she grabbed my shirt and said “Stay with me” I couldn't refuse, so I climbed in behind her and wrapped my arms tightly around her. Then we both fell asleep together.
~~ A few weeks later ~~
*The first few weeks have been the best I have ever spent, well mostly because I have spent it with my best friend; since she got here we have spent every second together. Minus every other evening she goes to the park with Steven, actually if I think correctly he should be getting here very shortly. She has become a completely different person, she is always happy and I’m glad that staying with me and my family has had this effect on her. Oh and one more thing instead of me dating her she has started dating Steven. I have honestly no comment but this, I am happy for them she told me she liked Steven at formal in ninth grade, and he told me that he liked her too. Now that they started dating Angel and I have become like twins, I have now got her addicted to clash of clans and its funny watching her try to destroy me. Well I’m done writing for today, until next time! –Jack.*
I closed my journal. I had come up with the idea of making a journal to keep records on her healing process. As I put the journal back under our bed (Yes we still sleep together) I hear her squeal, running out of our room to find her getting swung around by Steven.
“Hi babe” He said kissing her. ”Hi” she giggled, “ugh okay you two enough with the lovey dovey shit” “Oh shush Jack, you did it with Tayler all the time” “Yeah whatever” I groaned “Remember have her back by 10:30 Steven” “Yes Sir” then I could him say to her “He sounds like your father”. “Well at least I care about her” I scoffed. “Bye Jack” Angel called as she left with Steven. “Welp time for a night by myself” I said before plopping my ass on the couch. As I flipped through movies my phone vibrated a text from Tayler:
T:*Hey what’s up*
J:*Oh nothing just sitting by myself*
T:*Angel’s with Steven isn't she*
J:*Yep*
T:*Don’t you like her*
J:*Yes I do and I always have*
T:*if I were you I’d fight for her*
J:*you really think I should*
T:*Totally! You fought for me didn't you*
J:*I guess I did. I think you’re right Tayler. Thanks I’m going to fight for what’s right fully mine*
T:*Have fun*
She was right he didn't save her from near death I did; He didn't let her stay with him while she recovers I did. If anyone was dating her it should be me. I sat on the couch and plotted how I was going to win her heart.
*ANGEL’S POV*
Well as you probably already know I’m now dating Steven I mean after the kiss it resparked my feelings for him and I guess it sparked his feelings for me too. As of right now we are walking in the park like we always do every other night. As I laid my head on his shoulder he wrapped his arm around me.
“You know we could do this every night if you were staying with me” “I know and I would love to, but I know Jack will throw a hissy fit.” “Who cares what he will think” “Your right” I said pulling my phone out of my pocket and texted Jack:
A:*Hey! Not coming home tonight staying with Steven*
J:*WHAT! ARE YOU FUCKING CRAZY! No I won’t allow it*
A:*you’re not the boss of me*
He didn't message me after that instead after about 15 minutes I saw him running at us “ANGELINA WALKER!” “Oh no I’m in trouble” I said hiding behind Steven “Come Angel we are going home right now” “Uh no she isn't you’re not her father she can do whatever she wants.” “Ugh, shut up Steven” “Um how about no” By now I could tell his anger was boiling inside him.
“Angel can I talk to you” “Fine, what” “How can you go home with him” “The same way you did when our were dating Tayler” “Yeah but I went to her house, and I did it to spend time with her not just to get in her pants.” “Ha don’t make me laugh Jack. You really think I’m going over to Steven’s just to have sex. Your sadly mistaken my dear friend” he must have been really angry and couldn't take it anymore.
“You know what go, go be with your boyfriend, but when he leaves you cause your pregnant don’t come crawling back to me because I will only say four simple words ‘I told you so’” with that he turned and stormed off. “Hey you okay” Steven said coming up behind me, “Steven I promise this weekend I will stay with you, the whole weekend Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I promise I just can’t lose Jack” I said running after Jack.
*JACK’S POV*
I have never yelled at Angel like that and honestly it hurt a lot. As I stormed off and walked home I heard the fast approach of feet behind me. “Jack! Jack Snyder!” She called “Aren't you supposed to be with your boyfriend” I said tears in my eyes.
“Look Jack when you yelled at me I yet again was blinded from what was actually going on. I again saw how much your truly care about me, and as you ran off reality hit me like a freight train that I may have just lost my angel, my hero, my best friend, my twin. So I ran off to find you and apologize” “Well apology accepted now go have fun with your boyfriend” “I haven’t even apologized yet” She said jumping in front of me “You don’t need to” “Oh but I do” she said looking into my eyes, I have no idea what happened next but I felt a pulling sensation on my shirt pulling me towards her, then in a short time later her soft pink lips met mine. After a short while we parted.
“I’m sorry for being blind Jack, please forgive me” “You did nothing wrong Angel. Come on lets go home” I said wrapping my arm around her. “What would I do without you Jack” “I don’t know about you but I’d go crazy without you” She giggled, and wrapped her arm around my back as we walked out of the park and back home.
That night as she was in the shower I texted Tayler:

As I put my phone on charge I heard her start singing I put my ear to the door and listened “All I know is you held the door, You’ll be mine and I’ll be yours, all I know since yesterday is everything has changed” This girl knew how to carry a tune, I knew this because I have heard her sing before but never be herself she sounded like a beautiful melody that came from a piano. I have no idea how long I was standing there I must have zoned out because Ryan tapped me.
“Jack what are you doing” “Uh” I said before running into my room. After a while she came back into our room with a big smile on her face she looked she had been laughing. “What’s up with you” “Ryan told me” “shit” I muttered “Hey don’t curse yourself. It was funny because he told me how embarrassed you looked” She said sitting next to me; lifting my head up. “I’m going to kill him” I laughed “No you’re not, he’s my little buddy” She said playfully hitting me “I was only going to rough him up a little bit that’s all” I groaned. “Nope, I won’t let you” “Fine I’ll just get you instead” I growled playfully, she laughed.
“You’ll have to catch me” “game on” I said chasing after her. As we ran through the house all we got were smiles from my parents. They never yelled at us because they knew it was part of her healing to have fun. While I was lost in thought she got out of my sight.
“Oh Mickey, come out come out where ever you are” I called “You have to find me” she giggled. As I searched each room I couldn't find her so I sat in my room on my bed. “I give up Mickey” “Okay” she said tackling me from behind.
“Oh no you don’t” I said, even with her being still slightly anorexic she was getting pretty strong, but I was still stronger. I rolled her off of me and began tickling her. “JACK! STOP!” She laughed but I continued to tickle her. She was laughing so hard she started to cry. We've chased each other but normally it ended in a wrestling match not a tickle fight. Seeing the big smile on her face made me laugh. While I was distracted she rolled me back over and began tickling me and for one I am VERY ticklish.
“ANGEL! STOP! OH I’M GONNA GET YOU BACK FOR THIS!” I laughed as she tickled me. After about an hour of tickling each other repeatedly we laid on our bed and just talked, well and laughed. “Angel this is the best way to fix an argument with laughs” “Agreed” she smiled.
“You know Jack I never get the chance to thank you enough” “For what” “Everything, you saved me from near death; you got me out of hell hole that I called home; you look out for me, you’re like the twin brother I never had, and I really do love you for that.” She said looking at me, I rolled on my side “You've thanked me enough Angel, but I never thank you” “What do you mean” “You gave me the chance to show how much I really do care about you, which I do; you brought the happiness back into my life.” “What do you mean I brought back happiness.”
“I never told ANY one this, but when I dated any girl I was never truly happy yeah it felt good to make her laugh, but I was never truly happy that is until you came along. I don’t know what it was but your smile, your laugh it just made me so happy when I brought those things upon you” “I never knew that.” She said hugging me tightly, I hugged her back “You know I love you right” “I do” She said looking into my eyes. Again there was the pulling sensation pulling me towards her, then in an instant her soft pink lips met mine for the second time. I could feel that she wanted to deepen the kiss and I let her when I felt her mouth open I slid my tongue in, and laid her back on the bed.
The next morning I woke up to find both of us in the bed wrapped in each other’s arms. Then I realized the horrible truth “No, no, no, no” I whispered. She stayed asleep while I ran to get a shower. I couldn't concentrate while in the shower I must have been in there for over an hour. Once I finally came out of the bathroom I found her pacing back and forth in the bedroom.
“Angel” She shot her head up and looked at me, she was crying “We can’t tell anyone” “Don’t worry it never happened” I said wrapping my arms around her. We were interrupted by her phone “It’s Steven” “Here I’ll take this call, go get a shower and calm down” “Thanks” she said before running in the bathroom.
“Hello” “Hey Ba- oh Hi Jack, where’s Angel” “She’s in the shower” “Okay well can you tell her I called” “Sure” “Thanks” he hung up. Well that was the most awkward conversation I have ever had with Steven. I put her phone down and went to fix us up some breakfast before we had to get to school.
*ANGEL’S POV*
“Okay, no one can know that I slept with him” I said to myself as I stood in the shower. I can’t believe what we had done. I mean Jack is my best friend, but I never wanted something like this to come between us like this. “Okay” I sighed. I had to calm down today was my first day back to school since my hospital stay. “Alright, you got this Angel” I encouraged myself as I put my mascara on.
“Hey when you’re done breakfast is on the table” Jack said knocking on the door “Thanks” I said grabbing my purse of the counter and walking out of the bathroom.
“Cute as a button” he said. I blushed “Aw you’re red as a” “Don’t you dare” “Strawberry” “I hate you” “No you don’t” “I know” I smiled hugging him then I heard a horn outside “Steven’s here” “Alright, got everything?” “Yep but you don’t” “What did I forget” “This” I said giving him kiss “thank you for keeping this a secret” I whispered in his ear “Even though you were amazing” he whispered back. My eyes went wide as I slapped his arm. “Hi babe” I said giving Steven a quick kiss as I climbed in the front seat next to him.
“Morning gorgeous” I looked back to find Jack on his phone. “So are you ready for your first day back at school” “Yeah, I miss everyone” “you know they’re going to ask what happened right” “I know” “Anyway, Lauren came up the brilliant idea about the four of us going out to dinner tonight.” “Hmm” was all Jack said as he played on his phone.
“Sounds fun, I’m in for it” “You always are” Steven smiled as me as he turned into the school.
“Well this is it” I said taking Steven’s hand. “I’m back” I said as I walked into my first day back since I tried to kill myself.
