One day, as always days are, there was a good man living alone in the forest to stay away from the corrupt society. That man loved to play the flute, and he played it very well. He could have become rich and famous, only if he had chosen to play music for the amusement of rich people. However, he chose to be a peasant, grow what he eats and live in peace. That day the king heard of him from some passengers who overheard his music while crossing the forest, and ordered to see him. Soldiers brought the man to the king by force, when he refused to go with them deliberately. The king asked the man if he could play the flute. "Yes", answered the man. But when he was asked to play for the king and his entourage he refused, and when asked why he answered:"People out there are starving, dying of disease, they are insecure in their homes, their choices are so limited that they have to steal and kill each other to survive and you are here enjoying yourselves, and want me to amuse your royal ears with music!?Where is the honor in that? Go out and look after your subjects, all of you, go out and do your jobs, do something useful, something other than filling your bellies with wealth and your senses with joy." The king was very offended but he was a coldblooded sly man so he said:" You think you are defending those insects!? Tomorrow morning, you'll see them enjoying watching you, but not playing, they will watch you get punished and humiliated, and guess what!? They are going to love it, and you'll know that they didn't deserve your heroic speech. But what should this punishment be!?" A man of the royal entourage asked for permission to speak and said:"My Lord, this man has offended your royal ears, I think the best to do with him is to cut his." The king smiled and said:"No,that would be too vulgar, we'll just put rings on them like women, and see what good will honor be to him after that?"And everybody around laughed at that royal joke as they always had to praise the king's awful yet royal sense of humor. That was a severe punishment for at that time and place only a woman or a slave put earrings. Then the man was taken to prison till next morning. In his prison he kept thinking what to do so that not to be humiliated by this king. He came out with just one idea. In the next morning people gathered and a high stage was set where the king and his friends stood and the man was brought with a scarf on his head. People were shouting at him and throwing him with stones and other stuff. The king said "You have offended me, and thus offended my people, and so I sentence you to public humiliation. We'll put earrings on your ears like women. They have already made you two iron ones, but I'm a generous King, I've ordered you two golden rings." The king laughed and everyone around did, but a man from the crowd shouted "He will remove them and barter them for food and drink", so the king said:"Umm, good point." and moved his hand on his head as if he started thinking. All this time the man was silent and looked very tired while two guards helped him to stand on his feet. Then the king came out with an idea which was already arranged as well as was the voice that came from the crowd, he said:"we'll melt the gold so that it sticks to his ears, and when he manages to remove them I'll be happy to barter them for my kingdom, hahahaha." Then the king got closer to the man and whispered with a smile:"Now, you'll enjoy your music better with golden ears". The man smiled back at him with a weak but challenging look in his eyes and whispered "No, I think I'll enjoy your kingdom with no ears." He removed the scarf on his head, and everyone was shocked to see that he had cut off his ears. Then he stretched his arms and opened his hands to hand both his ears over to the king and said:"Now, you take my ears put the earrings on them and keep them. You offered to exchange the earrings for your kingdom, and I accept. I lost my ears but I'm not deaf, and you have always had your eyes, but you've never seen this coming, nor seen at all." The humorous king was for once speechless, for he had to give up his throne to the man with no ears to rest a crown on. That was the law of the day; a word was a contract, and that was a royal one . Finally, that was an official trial and everything that is said, even a humor counts. The man gave up the help of the guards, stood on his feet, looked up to the king and said :
"You, A Man, wrong a Man for fun,
A joke is tyranny, and it is done.
How fun can be so troublesome!?
I was pushed to cut my ears for honor,
unaware that -With Honor comes a Kingdom.-
All I knew is without it life is as good
, as a song sung by a dumb"
