In your sleep your heart stops beating
Panting, screaming, tears rolling down your face
No one sees you
No one hears
And so you lie down, waiting for someone to come around
6 minutes gone,
It's cold, you're freezing
You hear everything
from the blowing of the wind,
leaves falling, light footsteps from your neighbour's door
12 minutes,
You're stiff
You hear nothing but the inner voices
Telling you "stay still",
and so you did
As still as a statue you are
You couldn't move,
even from the slightest twist of your finger
Pitch black on 20 minutes,
You feel nothing but the pounding of your chest
Palms forcing its way to the base of your heart
"1, 2 , 3," someone's counting
The other's weeping, bawling
You wanted to wake up
Open your eyes, speak and say you're okay
But you are not
Instead your eyes shut tighter
It feels like a huge gap in you brain
You couldn’t think, you are not thinking
Everything was a void
30 minutes and the thing that was hitting your heart stops
You heard nothing but a scream
Your face wet with tears
But it wasn’t yours
The last thing you can do was listen
And all you heard was pain
