His Misleading Lines

"You're better off not being noticed."

You narrowed your eyes and gave him an offended look.

He leaned close to your ear, "because you're toxic."

With that pause, your mind was quick to make assumptions. Your grip on your papers tightened, yet you sighed in defeat.

I'm a horrible person, after all.

Turning your back at him, you tried to leave the room. Only to be stopped again with a hand on your shoulder, that made you turn around.

"Because, " He continued and looked at you straight in the eyes, "once they do, it'll be too late."

He took a step back away, while keeping his gaze on your eyes.

"Your supposed mediocre self suddenly stands out over anything else. Under all that nerdiness is a girl who'll make them realize how wrong they are to think they knew you. All the little quirks that made you flawed, start to make you even more beautiful."

Sincerity laced each of the words that left his lips.

"And to be honest, any guy wouldn't mind having you on his mind all the time, at all."
He gave you a smile and shoved his hands in the pocket of his pants.

"I hope you realize that."

He started to make his way to the door, but not before saying, "I certainly wouldn't mind being that guy."
